Disappointing, a beautiful room and good food at reasonable prices. But putting fine dining on the 4th floor of a student building probably wasn't the best idea. Considering how many high priced condos are on the endowment lands, it's surprising a nice restaurant hasn't taken hold. I guess they all drive elsewhere.

In other news, did I see correctly that there is a second Downtown Five Guys opening on Thurlow, just below Red Robin and next to the new Aritzia megastore?
Office workers.. And Field & Social closes at 4PM so it's directly targeted at that market.

That White Spot is the biggest restaurant they've ever opened (according to an article I read). It's nice inside. They could draw big crowds from stadium/arena/theater events if they market accordingly.

A friend at work said that the Milestones at Crossroads (Cambie & Broadway) had a sign on the door saying it was closed.
Not sure if that's permanent or a health board closure (?)

You don't even know that place is there when you walk by, so they must be out of business.

Could use a bigger sign on Cambie for sure. Although it's got amazing views of the city and mountains (thanks viewcones!) from the main bar/lounge area.

That really seems like a health code violation and remediation.

Sure, but in the Milestones range like Cactus, Earls, etc. I'd pick Milestones any day.

There's nothing on the Health Department website about them being shut down for that reason-Please don't start baseless rumours.

Maybe it's a flood, or maybe it's none of the above. But when you close suddenly and don't specify a reason, of course people will assume the worst.

I think they need a lesson in PR and Communications.

On the topic, if anybody is interested in health related closures:

I noticed a new Starbucks at Wall Centre yesterday. This is just across from the main entrance to St. Paul's Hospital. I just took a quick pic whilst standing out in the middle of the bike lane and I didn't manage to get a good angle on the sign (it's on the corner, sticking out at a 45 degree angle) but trust me, it's a Starbucks. It looked like they were just setting up.

March 14 '16, my pic

Ahh yes, the famous "opening Summer 2015" Starbucks. Glad to see it's finally there.
