With the new larger apartment buildings lining it, Speer Blvd. is beginning to feel a little like Peachtree Street in Atlanta. Peachtree is the main drag in Atlanta and has many upscale condo and apartment buildings and nice restaurants, stores, etc.

Corner retail/restaurant at Speer & Bannock would be interesting. Nearby the rehab of the old Fissell's Hardware building into yet another co-working space is looking great. Also in that area the daycare and buildings next to Urban Roots at 10th & Acoma have been fenced off, do we know what the plans are for those parcels?

Rooster and Moon stays. The only structures that get demolished for this project are the old Allstate claims garage and the cleaners on Speer. Here is the site plan:

I agree, that really does look like a nice project. Not nearly as fussy as some of their other projects.

Many of the Cherry Creek projects have been among the best in the City. I wish we saw similar quality elsewhere.

Well this is a super pleasant facade. I also like the steel AND concrete builds. They're unique and cool!

It's always interesting to me that hotels are almost always concrete construction. Do people really f**k that hard at hotels that you need to minimize sound transmission so much?

It is not that at all, there is a risk with metal construction that if more than 6 couples were to achieve synchronised rhythm then the entire frame could start to resonate. I understand for this building there is an audible warning that detects a potentially dangerous harmonic that sounds something like "your wife is in reception".

This building is going to be very unique. It's steel and glass throughout. I think it's a sleeper of great design. Really excited to see it.

The glass on the hotel does look really nice. I wasn't really excited by the renderings which were oddly unclear and confusing. I certainly didn't expect these refreshing colors. Now I'm excited to see how it will turn out.

That looks great! Renderings never really showed the exterior color, good to see this one is going with blue glass.

Here's a small one, but condos and significant in pricing. Glad even though it's 7 units, it will make a vertical impact. I love seeing some new moderate height in this part of town. http://www.confluence-denver.com/devnews/nine_hundred_penn_022216.aspx

The building already exists. This is just a redevelopment. No new height in the area.

Checking out the construction cam for Skyhouse recently, I noticed that they are going with short span construction (columns in the middle where the end of the parking stall would be and no real beams), which you typically don't do unless there is a good reason because you disturb the parking layout that way.

This *could* mean that they are leaving the option open for adding a tower above the garage at some point because commercial/residential buildings don't work well with a long span structural system. It also could mean they just want to limit the floor-to-floor heights by eliminating beams. Just speculation at this point, but those rumors could have some merit.
