Black American culture is powerful, not only does it drive American pop culture, it drives pop culture around the world. Of course that also comes from the extreme wealth and influence of the United States. If Brazil was rich and powerful we'd be able to say the same thing about African Brazilian culture.
A couple of months back someone told me that Country music is influenced by black music. I couldn't believe it. Country music is so white, but when I though about it, Rock Music is hell of white, but it is well documented from its roots in early 20th century black gospel, so I guess I can't write off black gospel influening country music as well.
