I wouldn't really call it a theme, more his signature style. But I don't disagree, I'd love to see how other Indigenous architects would interpret a space.

Anyone know why they only took down one section of remaining bridge and no the rest?

Gordon Oakes Red Bear Centre looks fine from the road, but the side that faces the rest of the campus is very disappointing - it's bleak and uninviting. As well, the building is too small to satisfy anything more than a symbolic need. I can't be a supporter of this one; it just strikes me as a misuse of university resources.

They couldn't take it down without building another berm under the last span, but that would dam the river. As I understand it, the berms are being used to help the refurbishment of the piers. I would expect once this is done to one side, they'd remove the berm, construct one under the last span, and demolish it then.

I think the size is appropriate especially given its close proximity to other buildings that serve a complimentary function. It provides some study space for students and a large public area to hold special events. It is symbolic in trying to show the university is inclusive of the different ethnic groups within the province. That is very positive and quite consistent with how the UfoS has small one off building that try to build connection to different religious faiths in the province.

I had a chance to drive by elementary schools under construction in both Evergreen and the Hamptons. Maybe I am just easily impressed, but there seems to be a fair bit accomplished already!

If you have not been by the Meridian Project in Stonebridge, that is also an impressive project in scope and function. It is a 'seniors' project that I believe allows residents to move from total self contained condo units to assisted living to lower level care home. The condo portion of project provides some nice size windows and balconies for residents.

This entire area of Stonebridge (at the end of Preston Ave) has really developed and continues to develop. I assume the large structure that is to the point of steel frames is the new school?

So the Sasktel Centre is 28 years old as of yesterday. It's a popular arena in Canada, but what's the shelf life on an arena? Concourses are tiny. Washroom facilities are lacking, and I don't think that can be reasonably upgraded without an astronomical price tag.

I'm not saying we need a new facility... But should we start thinking about one yet?

The next arena we build needs to be more centrally located though. Maybe once we figure out how to get the damn rail yards out of the city...

SaskTel Centre is certainly maxxed-out alright; however, if there is to be provincial funding for such a facility, I'd say Regina would be the next recipient for that. Regina's 39-year-old Brandt Centre [officially] holds about 6200 people, lol! (Versus SaskTel Centre's 15,200)

SaskTel Centre will be fine for a long time to come.

One cannot compare 'stadiums' to 'arenas.' (Apples and oranges) Regina's Brant Centre could easily be expanded via by merely popping its [ugly] tin roof --- and I'd say with relatively little cost. A new arena for Saskatoon would be very $$$. (Unless one talks about Quebec City - where $$$ grows on trees. Lol!)

I do not want to get too off topic here but I do not think even Regina needs a new arena right now, especially in this economy. Maybe in 15 years. The Brandt Centre is the perfect size for the Pats and 90% of the other events. Some of the remaining 10% can be accommodated at New Mosaic and the rest, well I guess they will be at the SaskTel Centre. It is just not worth $200 million to accommodate a few extra big concerts or events per year.

Yeah, not sure what the rationale was for using an outdated map of Saskatoon. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see from this plan how easily Martensville and Warman could merge into one city in the future.
