I know its been in the works for a while but i noticed some of the lower bowl seats at the acc have been replaced.

Have they done the entire arena? If so when was it done?

Sens arena would have a capacity of 18,000 while Devcore proposes 18,500.

In comparison the Corel Centre (CTC) has capacity for 18,694 or 20,041 with standing room. Capacity was reduced several times over the years.

Arena's shadow looms large over downtown Edmonton's homeless

Sitting in the shadow of cranes and curved concrete, Keith Brighteyes wonders what life will be like downtown for the homeless when the dazzling $480-million Rogers Place arena opens this fall.

“I believe we are being forced to move into a different area,” Brighteyes said recently, sitting in Edmonton’s busiest drop-in centre, Boyle Street Community Services. “They don’t want all the riff-raff.”

Mindful of the project’s transformative effect downtown, the Oilers Entertainment Group has already delivered some benefits for those who live nearby. But some critics worry that a subtle but powerful pressure will force many of the low-income people out.

“Historically, change is not kind to my clients,” said Jared Tkachuk, one of three social workers employed by the Edmonton Public Library to work with the homeless population. “It usually means they’re going to be at the bottom end of it.”

My thoughts:

-This both teams on one side of the field thing is really starting to become a common sight in the CFL

-So are "fan zones"... that's kind of interesting. There are only a couple sections worth in Winnipeg, basically it's where the guards turn a blind eye to drinking and rowdiness... I wonder what it'll look like in Toronto

-Seems like only yesterday that $100 was an exorbitant price to pay for a grandstand seat to a CFL game (for years only Montreal had them), but now they're common.

Anyway, I'm guessing this will give ST sales a boost now that people have some idea of what they're signing up for.

As someone who is a bigger fan of the other type of football, I like these changes. Keeping both teams on one side allows for a narrow stadium that keeps the intimacy for other football tenants. And while we shouldn't accommodate hooliganism, accommodating more visually and vocally passionate fans is great for atmosphere.

It's hard to believe BMO seats 3600 more than THF. Probably a perfect number for the Argos to start with. I feel as though 24k-25k would have been a little small but 30K would have been a little big. Really glad this is being well thought out and the ownership continues to show a serious commitment to this team instead of letting the excitement run it. Read another article saying the "tailgating" experience at Argos games will be fun for everyone and will be 1 of a kind in the league

I dunno - I'm worried that 27,500 is too much, really. I think a Molson Stadium kind of situation would have been ideal for the Argos. Tiny stadium = induced demand...

BMO uses the extra capacity to have some lower priced options. I think it would work for them.

Really good look of the inside and outside of BMO. It's actually huge. I love the sky club im surprised they dont utilize this better. The press box is huge compared to what I thought it was. And the fit and finish of this stadium is really nice. Hopefully the argos get the same treatment of TFC. I love BMO

Said he was told capacity this year will be 30K for TFC (some seats on the North Side) and 27K for the Argos
