^That's the vancouver I remember while I was living there. The shangri-La breaking off into a pinnacle.
Really though, the effect that tower has had on the skyline is insane. The vancouver pre-2008 is incredibly boring and non-descript. Add one 200m tower and everything changes. Now, with the "two-tower effect", it's actually quite impressive.
It's silhouette is not the biggest, but it's the nicest in my opinion. Much nicer than Calgary and Montreal's.

Took me some time to figure out that this is taken along Terminal Avenue but the zoom makes it look like something else. Nice.
Could be something to do with the ugly buildings and the bleak streetscape, I'm guessing. To be fair, the composition doesn't do the photograph any favours. It's a hideous mess. Looks like a pseudo-futuristic hellscape. Where is it?
It's an industrial street through the railyard. Only recently has there been some car dealerships (like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche) being built there. It is not a residential street and not in Downtown.
The Ford dealership and carpet store, the semi-suburban setting (likely in an area located between downtown and the suburbs), the generic glass condo buildings... Yeah, I've seen better angles of Vancouver.
I dont understand how residents of Vancouver dont recognize that picture as being in Vancouver?
There is skytrain in the picture, the pretty well known (in vancouver at least) science world dome, as well as the Van city building. Your profile says you live in mt pleasant. So this is pretty much your hood....
