Strangely no, it's free.

Just don't depend on it for accuracy.

ETA: I was right, the aero drone restriction is due to requirements to be 5nm away from all aero drones for unregulated aircraft. Additionally, the use of UAV exemption restricts the aircraft to class G airspace. Class G by is very nature is unregulated airspace.

The same restrictions for UAV also applies to developing buildings over 9 stories, the developer must obtain a clearance letter from the airport manager if the development is within 5nm of the airport. These letters are usually formalities.
Interesting. I was about to ask what the definition of 'drone' was, since some UAVs are large enough that they have to operate from regular airports, and definitely interact with standard air traffic control. What else qualifies as an unregulated aircraft? Ultralights? A major emerging market for UAVs is aerial application in agriculture (the Yamaha R-Max is specialized to this task, for example), would the small but numerous airfields built for this purpose potentially interfere with UAVs trying to take over that market?

This article in the Globe & Mail today mentions YYC will see six fewer Westjet flights per day this summer. Doesn't mention which routes are taking a hit but the commercial executive VP did say the drop in passenger traffic has been especially pronounced since November. YEG to see five fewer flights as well. I also didn't realise AC cut YYC-YXT already.

Westjet to relaunch YQT

Westjet to commence once daily Thunder Bay this summer.

http://westjet2.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=1099

Still no idea what the cuts are going to be on which routes, but at least a little bit of good news.

Take a look at the redeye flying out of YYC. The YQT service appears to utilize aircraft late evening downtime in YYC. The aircraft leaves YYC at 6:30pm and returns from YQT at 7:30am next day.

Also cut is one daily YWG-YQT fllight (this route started as double daily, now down to daily). This Encore aircraft RON at YQT and was used to rotate Encore aircraft to/from Eastern Canada. My guess is that an early morning YQT-YWG flight was not required beyond aircraft repositioning (meaning the flight was a profit loser). However there might have been a lot of connection traffic that could be better served out of YYC.

At least 1 daily redeye YYC-YYZ is gone, might be 2 dailies during peak periods (I can't remember if YYC-YYZ was 2 or 3 redeye flights). Also pulled down is the 763 rotations on YYC-YYZ. There are even a few 736 (baby boeing) flights on the hub-to-hub route.

BA is sending 789s as early as Feb 06 and on and off after that date (source - YYC Spotters FB page). I did a dummy booking up to seat selection and it shows up 789 seat map on those days. On the other hand they are not yet selling first class for the route. Will they run F cabin closed or people get bumped up if the back is getting full?

Would they really do this, seems like they'd be leaving a lot of potential profit on the table.

Once again, not a good way to make money.

BA should have ordered some 787's with "rouge" type seating layout for markets such as Calgary and some other NA's 2nd tier destinations. I know BA prides itself on being a high class carrier, but if they want to survive in the changing aviation landscape they may have to consider operating a BA "lite" type service. (a la Lufthansa "Jump", AC Rouge, etc.)

Also, I am glad to report that my Canadian North B733 made it home from MMUN non-stop. (Even being the av-geek I am, was not in the mood for a stop as the flight was already 1 hour late and was hungover).

Load was light yesterday (about 2/3). Talking to guys onboard, the 1st flight of the month is usually packed full (it has 1 and 2 week vacationers) and has to make the fuel stop in MCI.

Tuffy, great airport (T2) btw. I like the rotunda gate/seating/food layout for the A gates. Also, any airport with a Johnny Rockets gets an A in my books!

I've heard a rumour that Calgary to Thunder Bay direct is back on the schedule. It that true?

That's great for YYC! Although from the monthly reports show that transborder passenger stats are lower than last year, we should look forward to what's next for YYC even with the downturn.

Well, Hainan has loaded PEK-YYC. All signs were pointing towards this one getting delayed for a bit, but, it was a matter of when, not if.

Damn... U just beat me when I saw the tweet.

This is tremendous good news!! Three times a week starting 30 June on 787-8s.

A very colourful livery to brighten up the skies.

What up with Hainan and their codeshare-like high 4 digit flight numbers?
