The question, I think, is where the PoCo extension will go to.

Will it stay on the north side of the tracks with a station at Lions Park (to serve downtown PoCo) then divert along Lougheed Highway (over or under Coast Meridian Overpass) and past Dominion Triangle?
But in theory, North PoCo could be served by a David Ave. / Burke Mtn. extension.

Or will it cross south over the CP rail line to the WCE Station site and PoCo town centre then alomg Kingsway past the light industrial areas (serving more of PoCo)?

Well, one could take a page from this plan that was written back when the Evergreen Line was proposed to be LRT:

Quote:
I propose supporting the northeast sector’s push for the light rail Evergreen Line. Under the present plan, Evergreen stops at Coquitlam Centre. This line should be extended down Lougheed Highway through the urban areas of Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge to the Golden Ears Bridge.

Under my plan, light rail would run across the Golden Ears Bridge into Langley, and down 200th or a parallel street all the way to the Willowbrook Town Centre (with stations in the Northwest Langley Industrial area/96th Ave., Colossus/Hwy. 1, the Willoughby Events and Recreation Centre/80th Ave., and Willowbrook Drive.

It would then bear west along Fraser Highway, connecting several Surrey communities before terminating at the King George SkyTrain station.
Of course, that'd probably be 🞵🞵🞵🞵 on by Jordan Bateman as being a waste of taxpayer money, even though Jordan Bateman came up with the plan.

Since EGRT chose to accept all delay and geotechnical responsibilities, and there has been an announcement of the delayed opening. Does that mean EGRT is going to be fined for the delayed opening?

If I understand That PartnershipsBC document, the warrenty holdback on this project is 6% meaning EGRT could stand to lose up to 50 million for shoddy work, or performance failures on top of delay penalties.

Am I the only one who remembers all the branding and work that was done on branding the Millennium line with Phase II extensions along Broadway and PMC?

1998 SkyTrain plans:

The extension to Coquitlam was always considered part of the Millennium line. I still have a booklet somewhere with details. It was awkward the way it was interlined with the Expo line when it was launched, but at least it was accurate. It was one continuous train ride.

I liken it to how they do train lines in New York, with A,B,C trains all sharing two sets of tracks but terminating at different locations outside of NYC.

Now that the EXPO line will run only until Production Way, it even makes sense that Braid and Sapperton get moved to the Expo Line. If we're going to lament the EG Line being dead before it gets started, then we should definitely lament Braid and Sapperton getting deleted completely from the Line they were initially built for and added to an older line. ( Though I think it's the right thing to do )

I think everyone knows that the Evergreen "Line" is really just the original PMC Line (Port Moody Coquitlam Line) - Phase 2 of the Millennium Line.
It's just the NEasters who want to feel special having their own "line" that are attached to the branding.

Yup - that's what the Province has been saying in its news releases.
The contract risk summary at the Partnerships BC website also supports that allocation of liability.

Which will open first?

a) Millennium Line extension (aka Evergreen extension)?
b) Star Wars Episode VIII?

The Original release in May 2017 for Star Wars VIII could mean it would open before the Evergreen extension.

Now that Episode VIII has been bumped to December 2017, will it _still_ open before the Evergreen extension?

The Evergreen extension is due to open in early 2017. It will not slip to 2018. The biggest uncertainties are dealt with now.

Just a bit complicated, eh?

At the north portal it looks like the temporary aggregate pit has been removed so I guess the gravel base in the tunnel is complete.

The trucks were removed a couple of days ago. Today they were lifting cement trucks into the tunnel enterence and the trucks were backing up the tunnel the same way the gravel trucks were.

I guess they can't drive them through the pre-built tunnel sections under Barnet Hwy?

or are the cement trucks too heavy for the trackway beams that start immediately east of the tunnel sections under Barnet Hwy?

Why? They do this in all excavations. They crane out the equipment afterwards

The hole isn't that deep or small. A compacted earth ramp is all they need and they can drive in and out.
