I've voted NDP a couple of times (as well as for multiple other parties). I agree, the people you are talking about annoy the hell out of me and don't seem to understand that the industrial revolution is over. The word "solidarity" makes me cringe now. It is important for people to be able to disagree on things.
It's a bit harder to pinpoint what a "die-hard Liberal" would be like, but "die-hard NDP" can be just as insufferable as "die-hard Conservatives".
