Thanks for the update. The fire damage to the structure doesn't look so bad from the outside.

Good thing the fire didn't start from a lower floor.

No design or rezoning application yet. They had an open house on June 27th, here's a link to the presentation.

It’s for a site behind St Paul’s hospital and close to Mole Hill that currently has a 1977 church building. The new project, which is a joint Bosa Properties and Central Presbyterian Church proposal, would see a replacement church building with 45 non-market rental housing units and 168 market rental units in a 22 storey building. There’s a tree on the roof, so you can be reasonably certain that the design is by Henriquez Partners Architects (and you’d be correct).

I think the fence went up around the property some time in the last month or so. I took these pics today:

Thanks for the updates, mcminsen.

So has Harbour Centre finally updated and modernized its hitherto terrible, antiquated lighting of the Vancouver Lookout?

I saw lights sequencing/ unning around the rim last week. A red line changing/chased by a green line (or vice versa). I'm not sure, but it could have been two parallel lines as the red and green lines looked to offset from each other (as opposed to the L'Hermitage line which you can tell is the same line changing colours).

I saw them changing the colours of all the lights (floods and rim lighting)

It's about time they do something a bit more interesting there.

I really hope they are updating the lighting at Harbour Centre. It should be one of our best-lit buildings, whether they go for a hi-tech look or a more classy look.

But I remember a number of years ago it was lit in pink or purple and it actually looked really good - but it turned out to only be a one-time thing. I guess it was for some sort of special event. Hopefully that's not what's happening again...

The new lighting is pretty good. I saw it's fully glory on New Year's Eve. At midnight it was changing all colours, chasing, flashing the whole shebang. A definite improvement.

They should have LED strips running along all prominent edges of the tower and the building. Thatwould highlight the overall shape which is pretty iconic in Vancouver.

The Jervis

All the houses and the small apartment building are now empty. I would expect demo to happen soon

Edit. One or two units still occupied as it seems

I'm bugged at Edmonton

Anyone else here bugged that Edmonton has an 850 footer under construction now and a proposed 912 footer on the drawing board! I mean it's bad enough that Calgary leaves us in the skyscraper dust but Edmonton too! I won't even mention that Edmonton has 5 Stanley Cups and Calgary one to our big goose egg but we have the population of both those towns combined! I'm bugged!

get rid of the view cones then, and Vancouver will build something at those heights.

yeah, vancouver's not exactly new york city, but i'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about calgary and edmonton stealing your thunder any time soon. the height of a building is nothing compared with a great strollable city, which vancouver is, sterility or not.

Just out of curiosity, and my love of Vancouver city, does this city have any plans to make a billboard free zone like Dundas Square in Toronto, and Times Square in New York?
