Winnipeg is hotter than that (actually, Winnipeg, though having a lower summer average, has more hot days than Toronto). Very few people would describe Winnipeg as hot.

Actually, most people I know consider prairie summers in saskatchewan and Manitoba "HOT".

The issue is those places also have very cold winters.

Anyways I'd like to end this weather tangent since it's off topic. I like chilliwack because it has summers semi similar to southern ontario with the mild yet slightly snowier winters of the BC coast. It's the closest I can think of a real pleasant climate in Canada.

Heres a picture I took of Vancouver to stay on topic.

Chadillaccc: you have been posting some beautiful photos. Some, however, are not such great photos in a number of ways . . . BUT, keep posting them; they record the exciting changes to the cityscape of Calgary. Like this last one, it shows how complex the skyline is becoming as different scaled buildings and building types are added. Of course the big offices are exciting (Brookfield and so many others) and they give the skyline its overall scale. But, when you back up from them and start seeing the new residential, but also, other types of towers, of various heights, and spread in a more complex pattern than the downtown of 10-20 years ago, then you see a maturing city. Obviously Calgary has had its oversized feel since the 70's (it just keeps jumping up a scale), but I think the added complexity and range of the latest growth (beyond the traditional core) is a true change of order.

Everyone, I will be very sad if this post starts off another endless round of boasting, comparing, rating and general fighting. Toronto is Toronto, 1st place and all. Montreal is Montreal + finally some real skyline growth. Vancouver's my home, it's skyline is unique, large, and wonderful. Calgary, as per above, is again defining itself as a city whose downtown looks like it belongs to a city twice as big or more. Edmonton: exciting times. And I could go on and on until I reached the scale of Moose Jaw, another city that feels bigger and less isolated than it really is. So, let's all boost at once: Go Canadian Cities!

So, this is all with a big dose of good humour, so don't anyone spoil it by getting serious or agressive.

What I really love about the Calgary skyline is the different colours of the buildings. You don't get swaths of sterile blue glass like you do in Toronto and Vancouver. Newer areas like Toronto's Southcore and Vancouver's West Waterfront look more like solid glass blobs than anything else but you don't get that in downtown Calgary.

I do like the south view of Calgary's DT more than the standard East or north view. I like seeing the mix of residential and corporate towers.

And this is exactly how the nonsense starts. I like 'X,' its not like the — of 'Y' and 'Z.'
How about: I like 'x' + a little analysis of why and what that 'like' is about. In this case, can't we talk about Calgary without comparing it to Toronto or Vancouver. Just stick to the qualities and aspects of Calgary itself. That would produce a much more interesting content towards which we can all focus. You can do it.

I like the look of Edmonton. It really seems to have a well rounded and balanced skyline.
