I'm amazed people don't understand the level of government subsidy that Harvard gets for almost every new building they put.

It's ridiculous that the provincial government would move out of paying $16 into a building that costs $35, just so a private corporation can build a new tower.

Dude,all fourth tower said was that a couple of towers went up at the university. Doesn't really matter if they are government funded or not, they got built. You are nit picking for an argument where there isn't one. You can do better than that,no?

Geez, you mean the government is guilty of subsidizing stuff with tax payers money?? Shocker. I got news for you, governments subsidize private industry all over the place, whether it be potash companies or office towers. Most people realize that, but it's a fact of how governments operate.

People do not realize that 50% of all Harvard's towers are government. They don't know the hundreds of millions that gets thrown at places like Evraz.

And you know why? Because not everyone gets the subsidy. It's unevenly distributed. And it's attitudes like yours which continue the harmful trend.

Well I am flattered that you think I have any influence whatsoever over this trend. And to be honest with you I don't disagree with what you are saying, governments waste money left and right, big business cozies up to government and gets benefits, but how do you stop it?

I'd love to hear some preliminary plans from the Railyard Renewal Project. This is a huge opportunity for the City of Regina! Make sure you make your voice is heard in this development.

I'm looking forward to hearing them as well. I was there at the open house but left before the breakout sessions. Essentially they were throwing everything on the table from high to low rise residential, outdoor skating rinks, post secondary institutions, library etc., and seeing what everyone thought. The companies involved with this planning appear to have there names attached to some successful rail yard "reclamations" in Toronto, Edmonton and Winnipeg.

• Western Canada's largest wave pool
• 1/8th Mile Drag Strip
• Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament Castle
• Regina Tower with a rotating restaurant at the top
• Bungee Jump platform from the top of the Regina tower
• Saskatchewan Roughriders: The Theme Park
• Mud wrestling pits

I should be on the planning commission.

Should have taken some. I drove by them all yesterday. The Marriot on Dewdney/Lewvan is coming along great. The exterior is complete as well as alot of the landscaping. The same with Four Points. It looks complete from the outside but i haven't seen much for contractors around for a while. It's a little eerie. The Fairfield has most of the windows in and is moving along extremely quickly.

I think a water park has been talked about before kn some of the city planning documents, but usually as part of the Fieldhouse/Lawson complex. With the renewal of the current stadium site also on the to-do list, I could see it happening there.

That is far more realistic than most of the other ideas posted. People need to be adjust their expectations. The City will be spending a fortune on servicing and the bridge. They need paying commercial uses to help pay for this. Water parks, skating rinks, libraries, etc. all just suck more money from the City. Such uses will end up being a small part of the proposals. Look for the City to spend its money on the bridge and low income residential subsidies.
