Only if you consider downtown to be the cluster of office towers. But the whole picture show the extent of Mtl's density and it's on a much much more massive level than Cleveland. I mean, it's not even comparable.

Of course I was talking about office towers Martin. You know how much I love our fine city

The second picture in Urbmtl's set is what really shows what Montreal's Downtown is about.

The lighting was super tough that day. Was very smoggy due to the decay of leaves in the fall.

I've seen a few Cleveland photo sets in the My City Photos section, I always think it looks like a pretty cool place to be honest.

Remember, Montreal has famously even been dubbed "French Cleveland" before.

The big pre-war office tower in Cleveland is arguably more impressive than any similar tower in any city in Canada:

Why do these photos look like they were shot in 1963? I cant tell if it the resolution, or the color...Am I crazy? Not trying to say anything bad about the pictures they are amazing. Are the pictures purposely made to look this way?

Or maybe I just need a new monitor....

The Terminal tower looks like something Stalin would commission.

They do look old, because of the resolution and color. No need to change your monitor!

I was going to mention that. Buildings like that one probably provided inspiration for the 50's-era ones in Moscow, Warsaw, and wherever else those were built.

I'm not a fan of the style from an architectural, social, or city-building perspective, but these buildings are undeniably large and imposing. The existence of something like that also demonstrates that Cleveland was a bit of a different animal compared to Montreal.

Almost every midsized and up American city has at least one better pre war tower then every Canadian city. For some unfortunate reason Canadian cities didn't jump on that band wagon. I wish they had.

It demonstrates nothing. Montreal was actually bigger than Cleveland in the 30's (1,064,448 versus 976 000) and it got bigger even more afterward until now.

Those Montreal shots are amazing!

Montreal`s skyline is not the biggest but it does have the most variety, texture, colour, and character of any of Canada`s skylines.

As for Cleveland`s, ya a cool kind of grit in a resurging city. Cleveland may not be growing like so many other US cities but it has something that few American cities offer.........character.

Obviously he was referring to differences other than size.
