I should say that those sending emails that may not be fully positive, hopefully you are also sending something that requests that his replacement building work towards replacing the nature and beauty of what has been lost.

This way he sees people are upset but also would like something nice as a replacement.

I would hate to have him delay anything just to spite people. I would rather encourage something great be built while also expressing sadness in what has been lost.

I do have a couple of photos of the demolition. If I can remember, I will add them soon.

I do hope that in their planning and readying for demolition that they did at least take out some of the historic items such as the elevator. I don't expect them to have done it but having some of them saved would at least be nice.

I'm just so glad that building is gone now because for like 10 seconds walking past it, it would block my view of the mountains.

I'm glad it's gone because I was afraid the front part was going to collapse on me when I walked under... It was so rusted and the cross beams were breaking... I'm surprised they didn't get in trouble for that a long time ago.

I'm confused about APS. The article in the paper said that the owner had not gotten any permits on future development. I thought that regulations prohibited the demolition of a structure with out a permit for redevelopment... Where am I going wron here?

I believe this city allows up to 18 months before they have to landscape.

To put the size of the truss system in perspective, as well as the large heights from floor to ceiling within, that portable bathroom in the picture is 7 feet tall.

DANG

I wonder who has to haul those things down 26 stories to empy it...

Landscape? I thought the regulation was put in place to prevent landscaping and parking lots?

It's actually a developer and not a land banker though... So chances are higher that he will want to do something with it... Isn't this the same guy who owns the tribune building?

Much like the "sugar hole" site, the city enforce the landowner to put up a temporary landscape until development. Also with the Capitol Theatre expansion there was temporary landscape there also. Oh and also directly west of the Harmans grocery store there is landscape in where a future "tower 8" will go.

Well they should make them put landscaping on the east of Harmon's as well... And while there at it, they should make the LDS church do something with the old greyhound bus station property on 200 W and south temple.... I always feel like somone is going to jump out and rape me when I'm walking around that corner.

I would be 100% behind making at the very least the land bankers maintain an attractive berm surrounding their perpetually ugly parking lots. That is the very least they could do as a responsible citizen/landowner of the community. In my mind that should be a minimal requirement until the properties are developed.

Calling Priskos a developer is a stretch. He's a broker. And not a good one. He married into his listing inventory and hasn't done shit with any of it. Boston Market, Plandome (BC Chicken)? Bamberger building (burned out theater), Manhattan, Bayleaf and I could go on and on.

Wasn't the submission deadline for CCH proposals yesterday? I'm sure we're all very curious to know how many submissions there were.

Somthign is being done with Bayleaf... Its just going slow. They stripped the outside of the building a while ago. More recently they have been gutting the inside on the lowest level.

I just think peopl are a bit unfair to this guy. He is not out for carnage. He actualy does care about preservation when at all possible.... Look at the tribune building. There are more then one interview out there with the guy. He explains the APS situation... The building was not in good shape and did not have enough value to justify the cost of restoring it.... I would have made the same desision.

He also said that he would like the property to be used for the CCH. but said that if it wasnt that it would still be used for an alternate hotel development. It seems like he said that if the CCH did not happen at all that the property would not be uses for a hotel.

A while back ago I made a post about him and all of the property that he owns on the block.

Also there was a developer who was interested in developing a CCH on the RWP propertie (we have all seen renderings). I exchanged emails with him. He insisted that the City wanted the Hotell to the east of the Salt Palace.... Even though I want the CCH on south temple... I have always maintiend that it would be on West Temple and would not go at RWP. People called BS... but I think its clear that its going to be on west temple now. I think we will see a second hotel where RWP was... I just hope he doesnt tear down the stuff on 100 South. I think he owns most of the property other then what ZIONS owns... Some of it is through various partners.... It seems like the Naked Fish might have a difrent owner... He owns the buildig that the Wine Bar and everythgin else is in though.

Vasilios Priskos:

A big name that keeps popping up is Vasilios Priskos. I thought that I would do a little bit of research on him and found some interesting stuff. He owns a lot of building and property around town including the old Salt Lake Tribune building. He sits on the chair of the Main Street Comity and is a member of the the down town alliance comity. http://www.iproperties.com/staff-details.php?id=1

On 11-14-13 Vasilios Priskos gave an interview with KCPW. Where he talked about owning Arrow Press square and several building along 100 South. He expressed his opinion that he thought that his property would be a great spot for the Convention Center Hotel. He was then asked what he would do with the property if it was not chosen as the site of the Convention Center Hotel. He said that if another locations was chosen that he would build another 300-500 room hotel on the corner of 100S and West Temple…. but he also said that if the Convention Center hotel was not built that he would not put a second hotel there… So if the convention Center does in fact get built… Regardless of where it goes… There will be a hotel going up on that site… So we will likely be saying goodbye to the wine bar and other businesses along 100 S… http://kcpw.org/blog/downtown-slc/2013-11-18/development-downtown-vasilios-priskos/

On January 5th Vasillios Priskos gave an interview with X96 where he was discussing the Arrow press square property. He basically said that the building had been altered a lot over the years and it was not feasible to repair it. He also said, and I quote “we’re anxious to go through with the next development that will happen on this corner. hopefully it will be a hotell of some sort, and, and, we’re going down that road, and until that decision gets made. Then we will decide what we want to do here and move forward”. and then he speaks about how the city ordinances prevent them from demolishing the building. http://x96.com/news/x96-seeking-salt-lake-arrow-press-square/
