To many apologetic words for BMO. Its a bush league set up for CFL football no matter how you slice it. 6 yards shorter and the only grass field in the league, lots of difference.

So far what Else proposed to the Ex board seems to be reality, so as mentioned it was also turf endzone(s) that were proposed.
This post nicely captures the changed mentality when it comes to sports... 30 years ago no one really cared that much if there was a slight variation with a playing surface (e.g. the ice at Boston Garden), now it is all that people can fixate on. Honest to God I think some fans obsess more about playing surfaces (hello TFC fans!) than actual sports themselves.

Osborne Stadium in Winnipeg was small ... I think my dad said that it was just a 100 yard field. Somehow life went on.

Sports has long ceased to be about sports, and more about cup-holders and jumbotrons. That's why I like the CFL - it can't afford to go as far in that direction as the others.

It would also be better for soccer configurations.

Will the new stadium in Regina have 20 yard endzones?
17-yard endzones will give a stadium a more"intimate" feel??!!! Hahaha, yeah, I guess you gotta do what you can to have 15,000 people feel more intimate at a football game.

Regina's new stadium will have 20-yard-deep endzones. It will also be FIFA-approved. Yup, Mosaic II won't be cheaping out like these other - hence - potential shitboxes. I now say "shitboxes" because the integrity of the game will be compromised if they start mess with the proper dimensions of the playing surface.

While we're at it, why don't we have other professional sports playing surfaces and dimensions of different sizes as well? basketball courts; tennis courts; badminton; soccer pitches; hockey rinks; race tracks. As I described above, if a receiver were to catch a ball 19-yards-deep in a standard endzone, that would be a touchdown; in a 17-yard-deep endzone, he'd be out-of-bounds. You guys see the problem here.

Are you an idiot?
MLB; almost every stadium has different dimensions in the field of play. Tampa has a set of rules solely for their stadium - ball hits the catwalk and it's worth a different amount of bases depending on where it hits.

NFL has a stadium in Oakland which has baseball dirt across the field in some areas.
Yet you choose to focus on one stadium in the CFL?
Yep. You are a dummie. Now F off.

No, it's actually about wannabees who compare an already great league and facilities to the greatest sports enterprises in the world where the sport itself has given way to the cult of celebrity and hype.

These parent's basement dwelling immature clods whose extent of sport's involvement is fantasy pools proudly call anything else "bush league" that doesn't involve the almighty American sport.

Just do the rest of us a favour and if you don't have anything constructive to say beyond "it sucks" and "bush league" please do the real fans a favour and STFU.

That wasn't directed at you Esquire, I'm agreeing with your post.

Yes, but the magnitude of the problem is what's being called into question. It's not ideal but at least the Argos get to keep existing and we don't have to watch football in Rogers Centre anymore.

Baseball still thinks its in 1910 with the guy who owned the racetrack and the baseball team and stuck a ballpark in the corner of his racetrack lot. New parks on purpose made quirks and fake dimensions to mimic the realities of space limits for decades prior.

It isn't the same comparison where baseballs boundary of space dictate play (walls, tract, foul lines) versus football where the space dictates play within the boundaries of the lines.

So in a game of football making sure (more or less) that each field is uniform is more important than it would be in baseball.

The issue isn't the smaller field. It is the fact it could of been avoided if Braley wasn't a maroon. They we're going to rebuild that whole south end so you could fit in a whole field in and on centre. The league should of stepped in to force the move the first time to avoid this.

No, I won't. Besides that, you likely never heard of Quantatative Statistics --- let alone taken it. If you had, then you performed most poorly. Besides that, I didn't mention baseball facilities.

The three in bold already have playing surfaces of different dimensions.

So many young Canadians slag on the CFL and pump up the all might NFL yet have never been to a game and their connection with it stops at watching it on tv on their parents bigscreen

And they will, in fact the Bell synergies have already begun with Argo players showing up on Bell TV properties.

Next year Toronto is really going to be the indicator of how the league will go. Not in ways of something concrete like more or less revenue or attendance but something intangible, by way of perception.

If the Argos get 25k+ crowds (capacity 27,600) and rebound like the Ticats and Redblacks you will see a resurgence in the league from the last two (I hate this word) "meh" years. An upswing in the Toronto market will really buoy the league, and in addition, later give off tangible results. If the Argos struggle again, I fear we will see the same slight downward trend the league has seen the last two years.

I don't think his beef is with IGF given that IGF can accommodate a full regulation CFL field.

My point is: Having playing surfaces which are exactly the same is the only true measure for game results --- statistically-speaking. Otherwise, it's statistically corrupt and skewed.

Well, IGF already falling apart.

I don't think people really need to take sports (let alone the CFL) so seriously. It's entertainment, tradition, culture with a lot of athleticism and excitement thrown in. It's not a double-blind scientific study designed to come up with an objective, peer-reviewed answer to the question "which of these two groups of persons is more capable of performing the task of moving this ball past this line in accordance with the following rules ...?"
