Would be cool to have one of the first in Canada!

Has anyone seen these elsewhere in this country?
This disturbs me on any number of levels... not because there's anything wrong with DDIs - they seem to make a lot of sense.

...but, then again, so do merge lanes & double left-turns, yet Reginans seem incapable of handling these basic traffic concepts. I shudder to think of how Reginans will handle DDIs.

I'm still waiting for the Lethbridge millionaire who bought up all the IHOP rights to AB & SK to finally open a location here. What's he waiting for? IHOP is basic chain restaurant fare but at least it would be a better option that Ricky's or Smitty's.
Okay, I should have said: "It's not 'horrible.' " Lol!!! Perkin's is good though.

Agreed. Or Fresh & Sweet on Vic to support a local non-chain business.

Which is especially annoying since their drive-thru lanes only seem made to handle 5 cars when we all know they get 30+ in the mornings!

Surprised the city has made a specific bylaw that applies to them, haha. I know sometimes S. Albert gets backed up right into the street with Tim Hortons' traffic.

North Albert has a parking lot that's never used, because of the idiots cramming into the drive through every morning, and it also backs up onto 5th ave. Two lanes. Double the problem >.>

There is a small mezzanine, which I assume they will use for seating. There is a lift on the left of the stairs (in this photo) so handicapped persons will be able to access it as well.

That makes sense since it looks like a fairly small space. I need to stop in there one day soon. Their caramel apple cider is my favourite winter treat

Now imagine if it was fully-contained to allow a winter-proof walkway system like Winnipeg has for their downtown?

I'm guessing they will cage it, similar to the footbridge over Ring Road near where Usher was. I can't see it being left fully open for safety reasons. I'd be curious where the bridge would cross, but that's probably a long way from figured out.

Yeah, that looks cold and windy. Even if it was sheltered and wind protected not even heated it would be a plus......but then if it is too nice it will turn into a homeless shelter and no one will use it then either.

That's not a new rendering, it's just a closeup (and less blue version) of the one they've been using. If you look closely it isn't wide open on the sides, the white part is a wall (hard to tell how high though.) It's likely not anywhere near final, more likely it's just a placeholder.

Yeah, it's the same as like 18 months ago.

That said, it's extremely preliminary because the engineering hasn't been figured out. The span is huge and CP won't allow any posts in the middle to hold it up.

I wonder why that is?

There wouldn't be enough space between tracks. They'll git 'er done.
