The City of Edmonton has selected TransEd Partners to complete the design and build, operate, maintain and partially finance the Valley Line LRT project. This proponent team includes the following partners: Bechtel, Bombardier Transportation Canada Inc., Fengate Capital Management Ltd., Ellis-Don, Transdev, Arup Canada, and IBI Group.

Hope it's not too late to reconsider grade separating at the very least the Whyte Ave crossing, if not the old Bonnie Doon traffic circle as well. University Ave all over again.

^ It'll be fine.

The Bonnie Doon traffic circle is going away, reconfigured as an intersection.

Can you remind us of the composition the other teams please?

One had Thales....one had SNC Lavelin.....

My one...pause...when I read over the approved names is Bombardier. As I said to some friends (who read this damn thread) in a email just now, it is the same Bombardier that the City of Toronto is suing because their trains aren't arriving anywhere near on time. Awesome. Although I suspect that is in part to building a 'make work' factory in Thunder Bay for that project to build the trains as part of a 'buy Ontario' component of the bid. It makes me wonder where our trains will come from? It is the same Bombardier that now has 49% of it's much delayed C-series jet owned by the Quebec government because, well, timelines. Just hoping we don't have some 'Metro Line' type delays considering all this.

So the only public or privately Edmonton HQ company in any of them was Stantec - in Moving YEG. No PCL. I am sure the Advsory team brought forward the best Proposal although we may not be privy to details. This contract will have penalty provisions for delays - so not worried about delays. I guess we will find out over time where our cars are being manufactured as well as where the steel tracks are coming from. China might be the likely source for the tracks. The cars? I have no clue.

What's wrong with the University Ave crossing? When I'm on the train I breeze right through there....

But handfuls of single-occupant vehicles are being inconvenienced slightly by trains full of people! The injustice of it all!

Yup, there aren't multi-person vehicles, bicycles, taxis, buses, ambulances, police, firetrucks, couriers, semis, cube vans or anything else that is interfered with. The problem with such bias comments is they render your argument useless. Stating that you think the delays are acceptable is fine, but suggesting that the only people who are impacted are those with commuting practices you oppose is way off.

I hear Kiewit is screaming for projects - they only have a small upgrade at Kearl right now. Maybe if they didn't screw the city over on the 23rd overpass....their consortium might have won.
