Do you think they shipped Les Vieux Pros off to a Residence Soleil and that's why it's boarded up?

Valois will be demolished in the next weeks though to make place for a possible TOD around Valois station.

They should re-name it Residence du Nuits Eternelle.

Sounds like some areas of Calgary.

I find it pretty amazing how you can go to the far corners of the country and find shopping centres that look like they could be Anywhere In Canada. That one in London is like a carbon copy of one by my parents house in Edmonton.

When I was in a Shoppers Drug Mart in Surrey a couple years ago, for a moment I felt like I was in Thunder Bay. The layout was literally 100% identical to the one I go to most frequently. (They have 16 or 20 different designs and layouts and only modify them slightly to fit on their properties.) The only difference was some of the local brands and of course, the fact that I was in one of the few cities in the country that is objectively worse than the city I was born in.

Is Surrey really worse than Thunder Bay?

The fake mediterranean look was really in style in Vancouver from the late 90s/early 2000s until people realized that you had to have roof overhangs or your walls will turn into mush and kill you with mold spores.

Pretty much, yeah. It's only saving grace is that Vancouver is right there.

Surrey Central Station smells like fish.

I wouldn't say those London buildings are ugly.

Bland, uninspiring, unwelcoming, and the antithesis of great urban planning but ugly?.......no not really.

I actually think bland, uninspiring, unwelcoming, and the antithesis of great urban planning is worse than ugly.

Ugly sometimes can be so bad that it is good. Like a trainwreck.

I prefer the grit and shit to the banality of the Smartcentre landscapes (aka Miltonization of the Universe)

You actually managed to find a pic with a nice contrast that makes the landscape more appealing in a purely artistic sense.

Otherwise the courthouse ranks a solid 7 on the Clocktower scale. The highest ranking buildings above that usually have more gaudy elements such as clock towers, fake Venetian and or classical architecture and vomit or condiment coloured stucco or vinyl siding.

Oh no, Michaels in a power centre. Ahhh, my eyes!!! (and nose: I can smell the pot-pourri and the "depends")

That power centre looks exactly like the one in London. And the one in Milton.

except for the tiny "coop liquor" sign, it could be Milton.

Normally I like water towers, but this one in Airdrie north of Calgary is the same as the town: depressing and ugly.

Most of those could be the Maritimes also. Just switch the order of the stores and would be identical.

I'm amazed no one has posted the Biebs before in this thread. I just saw the trailer for Zoolander 2 and he almost ruined it (until he gets shot).

I'll take Nickelback any day over Bieber.
