That's horribly depressing. What is slated to replace it? A big Box power centre? Why else would they need to level an entire city block's worth of buildings?

The bridge way at the top is a little odd and arbitrary. Is it there so the resident criminals can traverse from building to building when Judge Dredd comes to purge the place?

It's Winnipeg's version of the PETRONAS Towers, of course there should be a bridge there.

WTF! The city council that approved that should be ashamed of themselves.

^ That image might be enough to drive some people for whom retirement is looming to suicide.

That is absolutely shameful. To raze an entire block with such historic significance is beyond appalling. Future generations will look at this the same way they do the Radio Canada complex in Montreal. From urban main street to wind swept desolation. What a horrid waste.

Well they can always jump off the top of the clocktower. Afterwards they can donate their bodies to Scores chicken.

^ A smitty's at the base of the Tower would be the perfect location for a Smitty's. The only time you could say that about a Smitty's.

This was just unleashed by the City of Edmonton on twitter. I don't really know what the tower portion is trying to be.

At least it's "subject to change".

those intermittent micro balconies are particularly offensive to my eyes. Along with the eighties-metallic tower rising from what looks to be a preserved façade of a much earlier building.

A futuristic prison? Those windows are tiny. Can you imagine being one of the units with only one window?

^Actually that looks delicious. Ice cream, chocolate 'ice' wafers, marshmallows and caramel sauce.

As much as the whole sweet-salty thing is sometimes good, that would probably be horribly wrong.
