Agreed with all of the above. East Jasper/Cromdale seems to be gentrifying but only in a way that it's a dumping ground for cut rate budget architecture... I get that the projects aren't going to all be Pearl or Encore quality given that most projects proposed so far are budget-rentals and non-profit residential but considering these constraints I'd have hoped for more than just Remand Centre II and turd brown stucco...

Talked with my sister, who was looking at a space in the Arts Tower. They were told the lack of windows is more energy efficient. I call it just lazy.

That is one depressing building ... anyone living there will need therapy after a few months. I can't believe that is a Kasian design - it must have be pushed out to their Chinese "team". I doubt Don Kasian has even seen the design - and given his deep Edmonton roots, one would think the Kasian brand would aim to deliver "world class" in Edmonton - not this. This is where architects step up and show how they can design brilliantly even on a tight budget...and sure as hell not cutting out natural lighting into apartments. As is this is a class in Terrorism 101: How to Turn Creative Artists into Zombies.

Wow no effing way... in 2015.... this shouldn't be allowed. Why the eff even go for balconies?!? Why the eff even have those tiny windows on the right side?!?

Just when my faith in Edmonton is shooting up... hope this never gets built. Or just build the podium and that's it.

Ugh great got my blood boiling at work now I can't focus.

Podium is important, so they seemed to value engineer the tower to the extreme. Aren't we supposed to be creating a new, vibrant area people actually want to be?
