You could do that or you could eliminate the parkway by extending the grid to have uniform square blocks and zone accordingly for skyscrapers.

You could very easily see the downtown area commercial real estate begin to develop it's full potential.

Square off Logan Square
Eliminate The parkway and make regular grid pattern streets
Cap the Freeway with no plan on how to make money from it or to fund it

Love you guys....

Eliminate the Parkway? Maybe when New York bulldozes Central Park for development.

At least they are capping the one very small hole below 20th Street. Better than nothing.

add elevations, trees, paths, ponds, architectural landscaping to make the parkway look more like central park or, at the least, more like kelly drive.

The entire parkway has been improved over last few years. New curbs, bike lanes, pavement, benches, etc. They just improved the section between LOVE park and 18th street this year.

Now that they just need to make the Parkway more accommodating to pedestrians. Walking along the Parkway is an exercise in frustration. The intersections are very difficult to cross because they're so wide. You either have be at the cross walk right when it turns to green and then have to run in order to make it. More likely, you get stuck on a traffic island and have to wait another light cycle before getting to the other side. And then there are the pathways that end abruptly and a lack of pedestrian-oriented directional signs, making it easy for visitors to get confused. Finally, there's a dearth of amenities (cafes, pubs, drug stores, a place to buy a friggin bottle of water) on the Parkway, particularly after 18th Street.

They've improved the Parkway bit by bit, but there's still a long way to go.

Is this thread about 1601 Vine, or the Parkway? I'm not sure anymore.

the bold really drove the point home. Its not like there's a ton to see on 1601 Vine right now so tangents shouldn't be shocking.

Here's a radical idea. Perhaps if there isn't much going on at a site...the thread should reflect that low level of activity.

Discussion board imitates life?

They're still filling that ginormous pit of theirs up with concrete which isn't much fun to watch, and I, for one, am finding this latest bit of filler interesting.

There isn't much activity in this thread. If people don't see enough pics or enough discussion of progress than they can move on. No need to post complaining about lack of pertinent comments on a project that is still below ground.

the underground work here rivals the W hotel. This has been under construction for quite some time and it's not even at street level yet.
