I love this classic design. As long as the finishing materials are similar in quality to the Temple, this will be a beautiful throwback building. I'm all for glass and steel, but a well-executed design with stone facing can be very 🞵🞵🞵🞵.

Especially in the "monumental" context of the Logan Square area.

I'd love to know the pricetag on this tower. I think 1919 Market was roughly $100M based on reports and articles. This is probably well over that?

I noticed this morning that the west side steeple on the temple is installed. Could not stop for a shot unfortunately.

This area is going to look drastically different in the next few years. This may have been shared before, but are there any renderings of the new Parkway configuration? I'm trying to envision what this area is going to look like with the Parway upgrades, 1601, the Kimpton, and the capping of the expressway.

penndot has a website for the 676 project. There are plenty of images of what the project area will look like when complete.

Just the other day I was thinking about this area.
Glad to know that a tall building is rising.

Imagine if this starts a trend of towers.
How about extending the skyline north like so?
We see the momentum on the west by the Schuylkill River.

I hope this is something we'll see in the next few years. In my opinion, North Broad is prime for development. With everything happening around the vicinity of North Broad (Reading Viaduct Railpark, development from Vine to Callowhill, appreciation of property values north of Center City, etc), combined with its access to the Broad Street Line (Broad-Ridge Spur at Fairmount and Girard), North Broad will be revitalized soon. I believe that this will happen at least on North Broad between Arch to the south and Diamond to the north.

I hope you understand that I'm hoping for some supertalls like you see near 30th Street.

This is the type of commercial real estate planning that not just extends the skyline, but creates urban density, creates jobs, delivers much needed city revenue in exchange for public access like you see in many developments.

PennDot doesnt have money for all that. They are just trying to catch up on deferred maintenance projects using the funding they got with Act 89. If you see the amount of disruption around 19th/20th and the parkway and think abou the fact that this area is going to be a war zone for the next 2-3 years you can only imagine the amount of disruption and chaos that would be associated with a full cap project that would create a covered tunnel on the western half of 676. Based on the renderings, this area is going to be look MUCH better in 2018.

I didn't say Penndot should pay for it. Funding could have come from the city, government grants, etc. My point is that it likely would be more economical to cap it all at once than to cap some now and some later. And I didn't even suggest capping the entire highway. At least just cap the part that cuts through logan square. It's a missed opportunity.

About $180 million for the meeting house building and the residential tower.

based on published figures that makes it one of the most expensive residential projects under construction right now. East Market is more expensive, but that is obviously mixed use.
