Really glad it was just a bad model we were looking at earlier. That rendering looks great!

The West Peachtree/Spring corridor is really the winner of this development cycle. 4 buildings U/C with 2 more about to break ground, and several more proposals on top of that. On top of 4 already completed this decade.

Ncr

After seeing these additional angles on the rendering...I'm really impressed. This is going to look stunning. I'm thinking about the sun gleaming off the building at sunset...

Would be nice to see development on the Cheetah parking lot, that old Office Depot, and even the GT parking lot on Spring. Still a lot of room for development on these two blocks.

Office Depot is being turned into Tech Square Labs so it is unlikely to be redeveloped anytime soon. 880 West Peachtree recently filed an SPI permit though after almost a year of no activity since its DRC presentation.

Peachtree/Terrace Development - Buckhead
  • 19 stories and 225 feet in height
  • 251 apartment units
  • 15K of retail and 15K of restaurant space
The property involved is 1.866 acres at the corner of Peachtree and Terrace. Branch has owned the adjacent Peachtree Battle Shopping Center since 1982. The property which is the subject of this application is currently occupied by a Burger King, Design Within Reach and the antique store. The Burger King and antique store are zoned C-3, unconditional, as is the balance of the Peachtree Battle Center. The Design Within Reach property was zoned C-1 with conditions to permit the Loop Pizza restaurant several years ago.

The application proposes to zone the property C-3 conditioned on a site plan and other conditions for a residential building of 18 stories above one level of retail, with parking accommodated in a deck under and to the rear of the building. In terms of vehicular access, the building will use the existing drive from the upper Publix parking deck onto Terrace and also have access through the Center to the Peachtree/Peachtree Battle traffic signal, as well as other driveways from the shopping center to Peachtree. There will be an additional access point on Peachtree which will not be signalized.

There will be 251 apartment units, which will be designed for and marketed to people under the age of 35. In addition to the residential use, the application proposes 15,000 square feet of retail and 15,000 square feet of restaurant space in the first level of the building fronting Peachtree. It is anticipated that the retail would be complementary to that which presently exists in the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center and that the restaurant would be a white tablecloth restaurant primarily aimed at lunch and dinner business, consistent with similar locations along this area of Peachtree.

In terms of height, this building is proposed to be a total of 19 stories and 225 feet in height. As a matter of comparison, the two Plaza Tower buildings just to the north are 22 stories and 265 feet, the building at Peachtree and Lindbergh is 18 stories and 231 feet, the Bennington is 18 stories and 231 feet and the Peachtree Residences across from Plaza Towers are 19 stories and 244 feet in height.
link?

Thx!

Stunning. I love that the renderings include Modera. Really shows you how the area will look. Incredible how quickly that area urbanized. That's really infill done right.

Midtown is quickly turning into a world class urban neighborhood. People who buy now in the area will score it big in ten years.

It could be three. There's NCR, AMLI Arts Center, and 22 14th.

Didn't realize an incubator was going there. 880 would be nice, although I hope the recommendations of hiding the parking garage and softening the loading decks is applied to the design. Would be nice to see a few more parking lots in this area and underutilized land on 10th St. get developed.

I got an email from the Peachtree Hills Civic Association. The developer is presenting the plans to the committee next Wednesday.

I agree. Kind of annoyed with the break in urbanity there. Will still be a bit awkward until then. Maybe they can find some way to utilize the space until then.

Movies on the lawn, which should transition to movies at the park once the connector is capped and a giant greenspace

Honestly, it would be nice if it just turned into a park(the lot that is). Midtown desperately needs more smaller scale parks. It's just going to be a bunch of buildings and concrete at the rate it's going. Yes, I know Piedmont Park exists, but for many Midtown residents, that's more than a 10-15 minute walk from any sort of actual greenspace. In most urban cities, greenspace exists within a 5-10 minute walk for just about every resident. Imagine someone living at the new Peachtree and 5th development. Walking from there to the entrance of Piedmont Park on 10th is at least 15 minutes.

I am a little surprised that everyone is so wowed by this after generally disliking the image of the model. The primary difference is that in a model it's not possible to depict the reflective nature of glass.

Yeah, it's pretty much exactly what we've already seen, just a little extra fenestration. I do like seeing it within the context of Modera and the student towers though.

Retail facing the street? It doesn't look like it in the rendering. If not it looks to be well lit so that's a good thing. Even if there is not retail I like the lobby of whatever to be nice and open. decorated nice and well lit so it doesn't feel so dead and boring when walking by if you know what I mean.
I've been thinking the same thing. Someone posted an image of a 5 block radius fromTech Square and there were about 12 projects in some stage of development and I think a few more have been announced since then.

Buckhead Village and Old Fourth Ward might get the silver and bronze.

One of the best things about this cycle is that Midtown is growing in all directions. Having so much concentrated on one street (Peachtree) has really hurt walkability.

Some people seem to have very dramatic reactions around here... everything has to be either world-class or utter shit... nature of the Internet I guess
