Looks familiar.

The Vancouver shot is from virtually sea level whereas the NY shot is obviously from the air.

Yeah the scale is off... many of New York's average sized skyscrapers are actually taller than Vancouver's 2 tallest towers...

100% sure there will be regional squabbling about the scale being "inaccurate"

, but consider that the 2 photos are taken from different distances to the subject. The scale is meant to be similar where the majority of each skyline reside. Distant buildings in the New York pic actually have a height advantage of being seen from the air and look relatively larger due to the compressed frame, compared to distant buildings in the Vancouver pic such as Wall Centre, which are rendered invisible because of the low angle. Whereas Vancouver has the advantage for foreground objects such as Canada place or the shipping cranes due to the closer vantage point.

Not usually a fan of over Photoshopped images but those were pretty cool. They make Vancouver seem much larger then it is.

The downtown peninsula is the closest approximation to Manhattan Canada has.

Why even compare though? It's so far off from Manahattan in scale it's not even funny. We're talking 1070 highrises vs around 200, a 472m (to the roof) vs. 197m to the roof on their respective tallest towers, blocks of towers built right up against each other vs towers spread out by view cones . The grid street layout isn't even close. There are many Canadian cities where you can take the same sort of picture from a far and say it looks like another city such as NYC, none not even Toronto come close to comparing though. Vancouver is third down the line in Canada of actually having anything in common with the Big Apple though, Montreal being number 1 in my opinion..

I do know what your trying to say I just don't think you need to bother. Vancouver has the best Vancouver skyline out there. No need to compare it to others.
