Great shot. For some reason it's hard to fully appreciate the scale of Scotia Place from the ground... it just doesn't dominate the way you would expect it to. A higher-up view really exposes the magnitude of the whole complex.
Anyway, Scotia Place is awesome... it's Edmonton 1980s greatness in a bottle.
Enjoy that gold glass while you can, though; it is apparently due to be replaced with something other than gold.
Jesus Christ can't you guys leave your classics alone? Bad enough with the Chateau Lacombe, but Scotia Place is excellence and changing it up would be a huge mistake. It would be like putting spandrel up on the sides of the Legislature to make it look "modern".
^ It's understandable given that the current system is at the end of it's usable life and failing, and replacement panels never match the original colouring giving it a goofy patchwork look. And replacing all of that gold glass would be stupid expensive nowadays. I'm hearing the replacement will be high quality material, though, so I'm withholding judgement until I see it.
