Does anyone know when the lights at Parliament and Pasqua will be turned on? They've been there for a month already with no activation.

I wonder what will happen to the former gas station spot next to it....quite the eyesore now.

Ugh, brownfield for quite some time I think. Between the declining popularity of South Albert compared to Grasslands and the environmental cleanup costs I don't think it holds much value. Same story goes for the demolished Petro Canada next to the South Albert Conexus location. Once Save-On Foods opens up in the old CT though maybe that will spur someone to buy that plot of land and build something.

Not sure. South Albert is doing quite well. New hotel, Golden Mile redevelopment, the Save on Foods at the Canadian Tire, Co-Op taking over and renovating the 25th Avenue Safeway location. Havik's move to the area. Obviously as you said clean up costs are a hurdle, but there's been a surprising amount of activity and investment in South Albert despite the economic sucking sound coming from Grasslands. I am quite surprised actually.

Does anyone know if the gas station north of the new hotel was ever properly cleaned-up? I know they just recently finished up premeditating the Petro-Canada site.

It holds a ton of value. South Albert isn't the same, but it's still worth a hell of a lot.

The winning bidder for the Petro-Can site is a big numbers. The the Co-Op gas bar bought it's neighbours (basically for land value) at a huge number.

Esso tends to leave their sites site idle then clean up right before they sell them.

They may open a new one out east. There are two in Saskatoon.

All indication are they are moving to 2220 Willow Rd but I was wondering if anyone hard heard about their old building.

I was wondering this myself.

Also was wondering what is the deal with the pedestrian crossing signals at Regina Avenue and Lewvan. There is still no sidewalk approaching the intersection from the east or west but now they have the pedestrian signals [not functioning currently]. Doesn't seem quite right...

Parliament and Pasqua is an issue of waiting for equipment.

I wonder if this is the same with the traffic lights at Chuka Blvd and Arcola Ave in the Southeast? The traffic lights were put up about a month ago, but are still not in use.

One of the light standards fell over on the mall Tuesday afternoon shortly after lunch. Other light standards on the mall show signs of rust, plus the bases have probably been impacted negatively by the de-icing agents that get used in the winter. The city hauled the fallen standard away but hopefully this incident will prompt a structural assessment of the other lights on the mall

I think it's time for the entire Scarth street mall area to be redone and a continuation of what they did in the city square would be nice and make both work into eachother. Plus the fact that the colorscheme is outdated for scarth street makes it look even more uglier than before next to the new contemporary Brick and lighting just south of it in the City Square. A strip of those light saber tube lights heading north and south along Scarth would look amazing!

I have to agree about the colour scheme. I have thought many times that the Scarth Street mall looks like it is coated in a permanent layer of dirt. Not so sure we need more light saber lights. There are many other options that look modern, maybe something a little different would work better.

Scarth Street should be on Google Streetview some time in the future as we walked by a Google person last Saturday. I'm hoping for my family to make an appearance all blotted out.

Someone was putting new external siding on the back and sides of the building today.

The Namerind future parking lot on Lorne Street appears to have some activity. The old building has now been fenced off and crews have been working inside the building the last few days. Stage 1 of demolition, I suspect.
