it's a Ranjan project at 100 Maryland, it was condos but may be apartments now? 4 floors, no commercial

Hmm. APTN Makeover..

It has a very earthy, urban, feel to it..The interior is interesting(link below), will the exterior be this pink..ish in color (below) completed render?

^ The APTN makeover is better than nothing in that it gives some purpose to the former CIBC branch at the corner of Portage and Hargrave, but it certainly isn't great. APTN has always had a very muted and understated Portage Ave. presence.

It is what it is I suppose, although the $5 Million budget can only take it so far.(as per prairies information)

^ Fair enough. I wish something that adds a bit more animation to the street would have gone into the former CIBC branch instead of what basically amounts to an auxiliary building for a network that already occupies a lot of space next door, but beggars can't be choosers... at least it's not vacant.

Were actually both of the same mindset on this one, on the meh, scale I give it 4 out of 10. With such a high profile location and available funding I was hoping for much more.

Maybe those with the power to do so can bring Portage Ave up a notch next time a prime opportunity like this one comes along..

I'm thinking the pinkish glow is just the prairie sunset... There's a different render in the link you provided that is pretty much the colour of the current RBC building.

I actually think there will be a decent amount of street interaction. I've heard they plan on doing a lot of community programming in there. Also if you compare it to before where the main entrance was off AC Park, it'll be a big improvement. And it's different, so that's cool.

I like the big copper swoosh and the vaguely tipi shaped structure inside but I hope they don't paint over the stone facade.

They're not painting the stone. I do however hope they paint/replace the concrete on the tower part.

Quite right,it looks much different from the initial image posted here from prairies website about 6 months ago in a daylight setting.

I just saw a photo of Winnipeg's old city hall. It was by mistake. I make every attempt to never look at old images of that magnificent structure.

I die a little inside every time I'm forced to acknowledge it's disappearance.

Indeed. I torture myself by having old photos of Winnipeg around my house. It is devastating what we lost.
