the new request includes the offer of government-owned land on the north and south ends of the convention center property that could be available to build a hotel connected to the venue.
Where do they have property on the north end? Do they mean just build over the latest addition built in 2006 on South Temple?

1st avenue & A Street (SW corner grass lot)
250 E 2nd Avenue (South side of street replacing existing parking sheds)

The existing terrace apartments building on main street (1800 South approx.) will be getting a new paint scheme & abstract design. (basically new paint, is all they are doing)

Saw some preliminary layouts for the site at 550 West on North Temple, on the north side of the road. It looked like a lot of micro-units. appeared to be 2-3 floors. I hope they dont go with this concept. That site would be much better used if it was a higher building.
That is the best patch of grass to watch Pioneer Day fireworks on. But I won't be sad to see that little empty parking lot gone too.

I used to live in the Terrace Apartments! They were dirt cheap, and the location wasn't that bad. Then right before I moved they were taken over by new ownership, and it looks like they are trying really hard to update. I was really fond of having those affordable apartments in the city, especially given my finances at the time. Although by the end of my stay, there were so many vacant units, it really only made sense to update.

I chortled pretty loudly at work, thanks. That's probably the best guess at this point though.

Actually, there was a crew of I would guess around 10 dudes, look liked they were getting into some actual work. But they could have been disguised as copper thieves.

I went back and listened to the interview again. Mayor Becker said it's a "large tower", hotel and residential, on the corner of 2nd South and Regent Street. It was just approved and construction will begin early next year. The radio station was actually KRCL. Somebody called it the Regent Street Hotel. Is it something that's been discussed before? Any pictures? I'm interested. I found it. Thanks.

I went on a little night drive through Salt Lake City. I tested out the new protected bike intersection (in my car lol). And I couldn't help but think about how far this city has come. I remember back in like 2011 seeing our Denver forumers talk their bike infrastructure and this exotic thing called a Bike Share program. Now here we are in 2015 with a very solid system of bike lanes and a very popular and aggressively expanding Bike Share program. Our little city is pretty — great.

It is a spot just south of the Abravanel Hall plaza that currently has the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art on it. The land on the South they are offering is the plaza on the corner of 200 S and West Temple.

The plan for the PaperBox site is pretty cool. The plan to cut up the block with a little street is the best part.

Seriously, any attempt to cut up more of our enormous blocks with at least walking paths is very welcome for me.

Thanks for the update.
It's somewhat encouraging, although it's still about a year out for 80% occupancy, which, I think someone said--I think you Future Mayor--that is the yardstick for starting the Cascade.
I think we'll have a years' worth of lull, and hopefully get Cascade, CCH, 151, AND the Regent Hotel all moving forward simultaneously. Oh, and maybe the mixed-use once called, or should I say NEE, the AIR. 2017 should have multiple cranes dotting the skyline.

Or, at least, almost complete. Also, we'll finally have at least one decent block between the gateway and west temple. Now we wait to see what actually ends up getting built.
