workmen and safety rail going up on roof at 109 street and 100 Ave NWC - haven't seen anything happening on that derelict for a long time.

Most of the overpasses will need to be upgraded and possibly be replaced. i'm curious if they are wide enough to accept 3 lanes in each direction.

Overpasses aren't a big problem, replace 45' slopes with retaining walls. Bridges are the big problem, you just can't add an extra two lane bridge - to keep things moving probably need to turn them all into 8 lanes, building a new four lane bridge, and then either retaining the existing bridges as a split for one direction or replacing them with another four lane. Lots of land requirement, lots of expensive bridges.

Is it really that easy though to replace 45' slopes with retaining walls under an existing overpass...

A very exciting project, and a nice step forward in Edmonton's multi-res evolution, but with all due respect to Dub, the concepts he speaks of aren't exactly new to the architectural world.

I did notice over the weekend that a bridge just south of Ponoka is being rebuilt. And it appears that an extra lane is part of the new structure. There are new guard rails installed on the detour section as well as the inside of the existing left lane.

This was shown at the DBA's annual luncheon today, pretty sure it caught many by surprise as to the impact of these next few projects on the skyline.

It is still a very possible/logical proposal.... best location for the next cycle. I still hope we see a hotel/office combo.

Nothing has been announced. I can see depicting towers that a developer has underway or have permits or zoning for. But ML2 is a fantasy project as much as we wish it had more substance. Based on your perspective Edmontonian should be there are Kens stuff and Galleria.
