Yeah, the Quinpool Canadian Tire is great. Really nice having it downtown, not having to drive out for 30min to an ugly biz park and burn a quarter tank of gas in the process.

Has anybody heard any plans for that horrible empty lot behind the Centennial Pool building on Cogswell?

Which, the Old Red Cross Building site, or the parking lot/service dog park behind? IIRC both sites are city owned land.

The parking lot/dog park behind. Mostly the parking lot as the dog park seems quite small by comparison.

Although there's also a small empty lot in front of the Red Cross building that needs redevelopment.

The little shop with the garage, most recently the Blackboard Collective in the Hydrostone next to the butcher was torn down today to make way for a 5 story building.

That had received a lot of coverage on news sites and social media over the last week. It has been almost universally panned in those venues for being excessively grand and far too expensive at about $8 million.

It seems a bit of a grand statement.

No doubt that the monument marks a significant event and has been poorly maintained. It seems something should be done that tidies up the monument itself and creates a great place for people from the community, but it seems nonsensical that this park be more highly intensely programmed than an asset like the common.

Gottingen Terrace

The old Gottingen Terrace property is officially sold to 2300 Gottingen ltd., a company controlled by Ross Cantwell, Albert Andrews and Robert Merchant.

I'm sure it will be a positive thing, but I thought it was going to address the part further south of the stairway to the corner of Duke.
