I wonder who they leased the 15th floor of 222 to. That was the last open space in the building but I don't think there has been any construction going on there yet.

I've invested nearly all my time and energy into SL City News and the site needs more financial stability and new voices to effectively cover development in Salt Lake. If you guys like SL City News and want to see it grow, please visit my Indiegogo campaign. Also help spread the word!

I'm sorry, but I'm calling BS on this. I really enjoyed the SL City News, but more of when it was just a hobby of yours and less of a money making business by plastering ads every where you can squeeze one in. And now you are asking for money? up to $1,500 in donations? Really?

I REALLY appreciate Isaac. I know it's hard to stay on top of all this stuff. And I think he's absolutely correct in saying that he provides real local news that has been drying up with the slow death of the Tribune. I love his podcasts. I don't pay for cable. I spend under 20 dollars a month to get unlimited music on Spotify, I pay under 30 dollars for Neflix and HBO now. My level of interest in what he is reporting on is very high. What's $100 for a year of podcasts and in depth stories with progress pics? $8.33 a month.

Anyway, the offer is open Isaac.

The large donations are geared toward organizations not everyday residents. I respect your opinion, but you are being incredibly disrespectful. What I do is a full time job and not a hobby. Do you realize how much time it takes to track people down, conduct interviews, edit stories etc? I produce original content. I also teach part time so that I can pay the immediate bills and work 50-60 hours a week (including work on the site). I have a Masters Degree in journalism and have sacrificed time and significant amounts of money to keep SL City News alive. I will be interviewing both mayoral candidates next week. Where else will you get to hear from Biskupski finally talking about development and growth beyond economic? No one needs to donate if they don't want to. But in today's climate local journalism only survives with community support. Every penny I earn will go towards not only sustaining SL City News but expanding its reach, coverage and staff.

Isaac,

I fully support your work and if things work out in the next couple of weeks, I should be able to donate to the cause.

I haven't had much chance to listen to all the podcasts but I do review the site often and have directed others to the site as well.

I don't know how it would work but it might be worth asking the general contractor of each of the projects you report on if they would like to pay for an advertisement on the story.

I don't know if it would be a lot but as you are talking to them anyway, they may be interested.

For the official sponsor, you might want to contact the Chamber of Commerce, Visit Salt Lake, Salt Lake City, Oakland, Big D, and Cowboy Partners. There may be others but these are the first ones that came to mind.

I will keep directing people to your site to hopefully increase revenue for you

Update: AUC is now VCC

Hi as promised I wanted to provide an update on our project. As most of you are aware, our original development was named the AIR URBAN CENTER (AUC). We are now adding a large amount of class A office space in our podium to house all corporate, licensing and sales functions for a new technology/entertainment company I founded last year in Utah called THE VOID. Because of this decision and due to the massive exposure we have received worldwide, especially in Asian markets (which BTW has aided in our capital raising efforts for this project) we have decided to rename AUC as - THE VOID CORPORATE CENTER (VCC). Thousands of publications worldwide have written/reported about THE VOID since we released information about our business plan and technology. For more information visit: http://www.thevoid.com.

I’m also very excited to announce our Hotel Flag! We have chosen the THOMPSON HOTEL brand (Commune Hotel Group) as our partner. This is one of the most exciting hotel operators in the US. Their amenities, style and operational excellence is second to none. It took a while to get Commune excited about the SLC market, but after much effort SLC and our VCC will be the next home to a shiny new THOMPSON HOTEL. Commune has opened several new THOMPSON HOTELS in markets such as NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, etc. with much fanfare. Although SLC is a smaller market than the typical gateway cities which Commune has built their recent hotels, after much due-diligence/research, they agreed with our perspective that SLC is about to experience a development boom. Dozens of out of state technology companies are moving into Utah, as well as many home grown companies expanding (THE VOID being one of them including a large development campus/studio). This is going to continue to fuel the growth and development of downtown SLC. SLC is very much under serviced concerning hotel options and rooms. Also more development is needed in areas of food & beverage, nightlife and of course housing within the city. For more information about the THOMPSON HOTEL brand visit: http://www.thompsonhotels.com.

VCC will house the same amenities as planned in the original AUC with the exception of the additional corporate office space. The components of our mixed use project is as follows:

Class A Office Space (Primary Tenant - THE VOID)
Urban Styled Hotel (247 Rooms - THOMPSON HOTEL)
Exclusive Residential Condos (Amazing Views of SLC/Mountains/Lake)
2 Restaurants/Lounges (Expect something great!)
Pool Side Club & Asian Gardens (Podium Rooftop Level - Includes Outdoor Event Space)
Massive Nightclub
Quick Spa & Fitness Center (Hotel & Residential Guests)
Event & Meeting Space(s)
Convenient Ski/Snowboard Lockers

There are several additional/unique features/services to our mixed use project.

We still have more work to do, but we are hopeful that construction will start by the spring of 2016. Construction is expected to last between 20 to 24 months. I will continue to post additional information/details, images, etc. as I’m able.

On a personal note … I hope you share in my excitement for this great project. This is been more work and frankly time/money/effort than I could have ever anticipated. Our entire team was extremely dedicated (we never gave up). As mentioned we still have some small parts to wrap up, but VCC is going up soon!

Cheers, Ken

Thanks for the update Ken -- glad to see this is still moving forward, and that office space is being incorporated into the project. I'm eager to see things going up on that great site.

Asies, I think you know I'm willing to put in a lot of time at no charge in order to spread the good word you put out there about our beloved Salt Lake City.

I think if each project is given a limited amount of coverage and maybe say two pics? One would be the rendering and the other one of your many live shots. Anyway, let's try it for a limited time and see how it works. Perhaps, you will be able to give me some exacts on the threads and the amount and type of content you feel will help link people in the the main body of SLC News. I will follow whatever your instructions might be. This is all about getting the good news out there about the Wasatch, and also contributing to your important survival.

Very excited about your latest news Ken. I knew when you first posted some of the ambitions with THE VOID it would become something that would override much of your plans. Also, totally agree with your summation regarding Asian exposure to Salt Lake City. I can't be more upbeat about any Korean Capital in particular, especially when it comes to the Wasatch. Dealing with the Korean people on a regular basis has taught me how enthusiastic they would be about participating in the current and future boom times of Salt Lake and it's Metro.

Thank you for the support. I am reluctant to have developers as sponsors, unless they focus on development that enhances a community. But you have good suggestions on sponsors. Part of the need to expand is that SL City News just isn't dependent on my for the content, which will allow more time to work on funding, selling advertising/sponsorships etc. I am hopeful that the nonprofit route could really help because there are a lot of grants out there for community and environmental journalism.

VCC will be close to 300 ft. Including the podium around 22 stories.
