Everything about this situation in Calgary that's been on going for the past 3 years is ugly. There's a shuttered hotel that the Calgary Drop In Centre wants to turn into affordable housing. Nimby's in the nearby community of Greenview have spoken out against it for all the usual reasons and delayed it.

While I don't know the full story I generally despise people like that. Those who think they shouldn't have any social or low income housing in their neighborhoods. We used to have a mayor in Toronto who was like that, Rob what's his face?

Ugly Nimby and an Angry Bird shirt. They go together. Total slob. She looks like she is all dressed up for a day at Walmart.

I mean, if you want to be taken seriously, make the effort to look a bit more polished.

Seems as though Tim Horton's sells few donuts nowadays. No variety. Flash-frozen and parbaked (ALL donuts made in Brantford, at Maidstone Bakeries).
Every day there is a new menu option (lasagna? Panini? shitonastick?), but they have neglected their roots. Even the coffee tastes like it was made from dried, burnt and soiled baby diapers.

I did some digging on my desktop since this photo seems to have been cleansed from the internet , and found the NIMBY to eat all NIMBYs from that same town hall event opposing the Affordable Housing conversion of the old hotel.
This one was actually my avatar for a while.

Tim Horton's is basically a larger version of a vending machine.

Good new for Toronto, this Fugly Eyesore closes in December with demolition stating in the new year!

It's being replaced with a pretty generic but nice looking 47 storey condo tower.

If there is one corner that could use gentrifying with a condo in Toronto this one would be near the top of the list. I'm not even sure what it looked like new, what's under the stucco?

To be fair, the Drop In Centre is a horrible, horrible actor in trying to get this project going. I was at a meeting (back when I was in the Mayor's Office) where the DI was specifically asked not to attend so the community could speak freely about about the project and process. The DI sent a spy to record the meeting and got caught when someone recognized the person as being from the DI. They also tried to circumvent any engagement process at the beginning by trying to occupy the hotel under the existing hotel land use, even though it has nothing to do with the use they were intending to operate, which was single occupancy units. Other agencies are much more adept and community engagement and are usually successful at getting at least a sufficient amount of community support.
