I just noted the odd tall building rendered at the NE corner of Prince of Wales and Quance. What could that be? The Bank looks like a ScotiaBank and the bar looks like a Great Canadian Brewhouse. We know that Famoso will be out there. Edit: Also Good Earth is advertising for a franchise out there.

Could the tall building simply be a placeholder? Odd that they'd make it 3 storeys, if it's just a placeholder. Could it be a medical/professional building?

I thought it might be a Shoppers with medical offices above.

I've heard that the bar is not Canadian Brew House but a Shark Club.

It's supposed to be a larger medical office. But will likely have to make adjustments to the size due to zoning.

There's definitely a Canadian Brew House going there.

I do not recall this LP article discussing the Namerind proposal on Lorne and the Downtown surface parking policy. Two items of note. The project is stated to be twin 11 storey towers (originally they said 15 storeys). Also the permit for the other "temporary" surface lot recently approved on the 18 block Hamilton expires in March. I sure hope they do not renew it. I recall that it was to relieve issues caused by construction workers from Agriculture Place taking up all the street parking. That project is all but done. Also they were to install landscaping next to the sidewalk, which was never done. The screen that was required is absolutely hideous and perhaps worse than nothing.

The Namerind issue remains a farce. They were sold a parking lot on the condition it not remain a parking lot. Now they want three years to make a bigger parking lot. And what does the city do? Say yes, of course!

The residential towers are planned to be 11 stories, they will sit on a 5 storey podium = 16 stories

And its that 5 story platform which will render the project difficult to build/finance.

A downtown Save-on-foods would be a perfect tenant in the 5 floor platform.

I am 100% for a downtown grocery store, but do you actually think that any major corporation is going to build one there? It's the classic chicken or the egg situation and I don't think any major grocer is going to gamble on downtown without a substantial incentive, ie massive tax incentive, subsidized rent, etc.

That is what I thought when I saw the renders but the manager from the Shark Club in Saskatoon told me they are opening their new location in the East Superstore development.

I suspect if we go back through renders for other projects around the city, the tenants sketched into the renders aren't always the tenants that end up in the building. Not saying it won't be a Canadian Brewhouse, but I wouldn't be the farm based solely on the render (perhaps there's other info not publicly available bolstering BD2's assertion).

Could be both, although they appear to be direct competitors.

Yeah - I'd be surprised to see both on the same property.

With Chop going in Southland, and the juggernaut they've got with Sandman/Denny's/Moxie's in the east, I was kind of expecting Shark Club to go in the NW somewhere - spread out their corporate interests a bit.

While a Shark Club is possible, I can say that I have much more confidence that Canadian Brewhouse is, in fact, going there.

Nothing comes to the NW. Our fanciest dining will continue to be the Rochdale McDonalds.

Well you had Silver's, which was fancyish. And nobody came. Just be happy the NW has Brown's.
