So does that squeeze out a few more metres than that tower in Calgary?

Could yes, but larger floor-plates are more efficient.

Little off topic but some might want to check out this week's episode of The Amazing Race Canada as it will be in Edmonton.

Amazing Race Canada will hit the streets of Edmonton
By Sandra Sperounes, Edmonton Journal September 11, 2015

With only four teams left vying for the $250,000 grand prize, CTV’s Amazing Race Canada will hit the streets of past and present Edmonton in next week’s second-to-last episode of the season.

Teams will curl and visit the Edmonton Waste Management Centre and Fort Edmonton Park as part of the 11th leg, according to a teaser at the end of this week’s episode. And what’s a trip to YEG without a bit of taxi drama, too? Sigh.

Nova Scotia native Sean Sweeney, who is racing with his brother Brent, says Edmonton itself was as much of a test as the individual tasks.

“We were really at the mercy of the city,” says Sean. “(The producers) really spread the tasks far apart so that transportation was equally as challenging.”

Love that shot. I wish there were small kiosks below the signage - tiny ones like in Japan and China - 5 feet wide and 8-20 ft long - that sell this and that and open when ever. Or some wall art below - possibly lighted from behind to help finish the lower animation on the street.

A little day/night market strip. Help to animate the street and bring people to appreciate the signage. Right now the signage "museum" is not well known. I often here that people want to set up small places and rents are too high - of course doing what I suggested would fall on deaf ears at the City and take a century to be approved. It would be so easy to have kiosks will roll up doors like on the rest of the planet.

Home builders call on Alberta to fix infill construction

By Elise Stolte, Edmonton Journal September 11, 2015

Bad builders creating headaches and dangerous construction sites in populated neighbourhoods are best stopped by an Alberta-wide licensing system, says one home builders association.

Edmonton has been struggling to rein in builders who leave large holes and piles of dirt unprotected, cause fences to collapse and create a general nuisance in mature neighbourhoods. But it shouldn’t be left up to the city to keep fining builders for each offence, says Jim Rivait, executive director the Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Alberta.

Alberta now requires warranties for these new houses. They should also license the builders, he said...
