I walked by 1 Yorkville just now, and it looks like there is some minor demolition work going on behind the scenes. Similar to The One just a little south in that there appears to be one tenant hold out still on premises even while demolition work takes place around their building.

The DRP is an advisory committee. They don't give "go aheads" for those that might be confused by caltrane's post.

Well, they are advising to council that project is not offensive and doesn't require a redesign.

When was this project announced? The only tall tower I was aware of outside MTL was that ridiculous thing in QC. Is this a condo or mixed use?

They advise planning staff. Staff in turn can still recommend to community council to reject the proposal based on the propsed zoning.

So having a tall tower in Quebec City, mainly to start a future skyline on Laurier Blvd (where there is already towers in the 20 storeys range), with an observation deck on top to have incredible views of the region is ridiculous? Can you explain?

Oh well, you must be an expert in architectural design then. Because from an outside perspective, as someone who casually enjoy looking at tall buildings in general, I'm no way an expert on structural design or crappiness of materials, but from what I saw, it would be a spectacular tower. Good thing is, you're far from Quebec City, you won't have to throw up when you see the tower, you probably will never see it in person. Others, like me, living near the city, we'll enjoy our supertall tower.

It's ugly. QC deserves a much better design. It looks like something we'd see in Dubai.

Even Dubai has standards.this is plain amateurish. No wonder considering it's designed in house.

Fortunately, I doubt it will be built.

I doubt it will either. I don't even want to list what makes it a horrible design because it will never leave the hard drive of the developer who wants to build it.

I'd be curious to know why all of you look at it as the worst design of all-time, like it's the apocalypse or something. Heck, some of you are talking about it as the worst thing happening to mankind since Hitler.

Please, make a list. Enlighten me.
