I think they're bars to mount cladding.

I was thinking that as well, but I'm not so sure... I guess we'll find out! I hope that's true. Hey, maybe it'll be a video wall or something. Anything would be better I guess.

As a project insider revealed earlier, there will be no video screen but the corner will incorporate a "lighting feature" of some kind.

I don't get what's lame about the exterior. I think it will look quite animated and lively, what with the art gallery cafe/patio and the lunchtime crowd that often gather on the steps.
Also a busy urban plaza is quite interesting for the variety it brings to the street. Did you mean lame interior? I could understand that a bit better.

He means the exterior of the building, not the view from the restaurant

That is exactly what they are doing.

Pacific Centre is one of the first to receive this new treatment but going forward all CF retail assets will be branded this way:

CF: Richmond Centre
CF: Chinook
CF: Toronto Eaton Centre

Etc...

Well that's what the marketing team's job is. You are 100% right that most people don't know what CF is, but that is also an opportunity. CF owns many of the largest and most productive shopping centres in the country, tying them together can have a strong effect on the perceived quality of them and can help differentiate what is largely seen as a homogeonous group (mall management).

It worked wonders for Westfield and I am honestly surprised it has taken others so long to change their approach.

For the vast majority, CF means Cystic Fibrosis

*********

If they had used the full "Cadillac Fairview" they would have run into:

"Cadillac Fairview Fairview Mall" in Toronto

************

Disney store opened Aug 21st.

https://twitter.com/pacificcentre

************

Looking in from the street, it looks like the 2nd floor of Nordstrom has unfinished ceilings (just painted dark).

They might have thought of the re-brand before they put the ( now ) old logo just inside the new escalators from Robson into the mall.

"CF Pacific Centre" absolutely no one will ever call it that!

The vast majority of people aren't going to nitpick this down to such a depressing level, thankfully.

Sometimes I wonder why anyone with anything substantial or interesting bothers to post here anymore based upon the general mood and feeling.

Regarding the signage, some folks can't leave a good thing alone without fiddling and tinkering with it.
Such a shame they couldn't keep the original signage, and place the CF logo elsewhere on the building. Cadillac Fairview, come blow your horn.

The vast majority of people don't spend time on forums focused on development, architecture, and urban design/planning. Most people on here care about those things, so of course we're going to "nitpick".

The old font with the interlocking white p and c on blue background is still used on the smaller sign over the sidewalk.
