I would like to see more cops on motorbikes during motorbike season. Hand out speeding tickets and noise violation tickets - particularly after 10 or 11pm. Sorry has nothing to do with ETS....just venting is all. Carry on.

perhaps it's so they can ride ahead of the metro trains and block the intersections for crossing...

signaling problems solved

Metro LRT to cause major traffic delays
Drivers can expect to wait up to 16 minutes at an intersection when the trains start running, city says

'Prepare for "significant delays" around Metro line, warn city staff. Wait times up to 16 min at some intersections! #yegtraffic #EJlive'

I'm sorry, what?

What is the current average wait at rush? The 16 minutes in isolation is an outrageous number.

Is that delay supposed to be like that indefinitely or just temporarily during the initial startup period?

^ I really hope that's worst-case scenario and not average, even for peak times. I'm not pro-car by any stretch, but even I think 12-16 mins is a bit ridiculous.

I take back my comparison to University Ave.

Until we have a working signalling system. Which might have to wait for the court case. Ugh.

I don't drive and I still think this is appalling. How are the buses going to cope?

lol....oh gawd. No shame for the ETS to announce this.

Sure glad I will never drive around these locations at theses times.

There has to be a shake up at ETS and city.

2009 decision to relocate NAIT station to north of Princess Elizabeth Avenue was taken without a traffic study. Biting city now. #EJlive

For the love of....

please, please just don't open it Sunday. It will just make more people hate public transit investments and make future lines harder to get through.

Not to worry - ETS says the 16 minute delay will be improved by 15% when Thales signal system is working and trains at full speed...so best case is 14 minute delays at 10 minute train intervals. So what is your actual window of time getting through? 4 minutes?

16 minutes is their worst case, so it could be better than that, rather less bad than that. There are other improvements that could help, down to little things like moving stop lines.

But really, this is because they wanted to save $50m vs grade separtation at kingsway, and that stupid decision to extend past PEA to finish off the airport.

Which I'm sure cost $20m

I wonder what the impact of the traffic snarls will be on the emergency dept of the Alex with regards to ambulance movement? This doesn't look good on all accounts.
