A newer high res render of the street interaction. We're in for quite a treat

My only fear with Telus Sky is that with all the LED's and lights everywhere we'll get the inevitable burnt out ones. It seems this city is incapable of installing properly functioning LED's.

Superb! Love those awesome heights on the second floor, with massive windows that open. That being said, I wonder what it will sound like eating in that restaurant with all windows open during rush hour?

You mean like eating on a patio?

I'm sure it will be traumatizing.

Fair enough. My reflection on higher end places didn't come up with any patios, with River Cafe being an exception (notably far from roads).

Perhaps this will be more casual than I was envisioning.

Despite garcon in the window there, I imagine that any restaurant in there will be more of a restaurant akin to Charcut, not some Daniel wannabe. Having some resembling a patio experience could be quite nice.

Either way though, I have a feeling those windows were done to add a little wow-factor to the design. In reality, I doubt you will see all of them flung open all at once very much, if at all.

Based on the recent Glowbal opening in Vancouver's Telus Garden, I'm looking forward to whatever eventually occupies Telus Sky

Lol, this isn't an Outback Steakhouse in some wasteland of a power center; I dunno why Suburbia cares about the potential ambiance of this restaurant.

He wouldn't even think of eating in a restaurant so susceptible to random gunfire. To protect his family, he takes his exquisite tastes exclusively to one of the fine dining options offered at the CrossIron Mills food court.

Don't ever travel suburbia. You might be traumatized by the noise in global metropolises.

Yep, quite a few worldy metropolises charge a premium price to sit on a patio.

I think 8th avenue is great for patios. We'll see how this works overhanging the 7th ave train and centre street, neither a patio magnet. Hopefully there are no nightmare suicide attempts on the LRT electrical lines.

These deep pit shoring is truly a science in itself. I think almost a third of the adjacent building can simply sit in that hole which goes to show how deep it is in relation to the bldgs height.
I do wonder, the rigs that bore the holes prior to excavating, I don't recall the drilling element being 7 storeys high or am I wrong? I used to think they would have to come back to site midway into the dig to install more shoring piles. The case of Place 10, the pit was staggered in such that this was necessary after P1 or P2. Can these rigs really bore in 7 or more stories deep in one go? Its quite impressive indeed.

I think for any ideas of what this tower will look like, I refer to the one being built in NY, the windows and cladding being used there will gauge what Telus Sky will look like, and as for the LEDs I think this project will not use cheap shit strips made from here or China but high quality long lasting all weather durable types that are from Scandinavia. Therefore i believe the lighting elements on this will truly be built to last and will help make this a definite winner..'

How many cranes do you think this will need? 1 or 2 Luffers? Maybe the heavy duty Favco ones?

I'm guessing with Telus signing the cheques and not an oil company there's no chance that this thing will be capped at ground level or when it hits bottom. Yes/no?

Of course not. The worry with this one, as with Stantec Tower, is that it will be capped at the top of the office portion. Though Telus Sky has a better chance of continuing to completion in one shot because these residences are rental rather than market condos.

crane program will be interesting at first, fairly typical of all-concrete construction beyond construction at grade. Boki, you should learn about drilling rigs, both for foundation work and for oil drilling. I think you would be fascinated. Large diameter caisson drilling can reach enormous depths these days. Oil drilling rigs drill to depths that would probably blow your mind.
