Hmm, there's a Hampton Inn right next to this shopping center so perhaps the idea is to build a bigger one with suites and demolish or rebrand the older property. I like that they're going to be building on what I guess is mainly surface parking right now. Increasing density of an existing commercial project.

Also included in Coro's project are 198 apartments and 40K of retail.

The little blip of nice sidewalk you can see in my second picture was built for the gun range. But this is the streetview just a few hundred feet down from the new apartments.
I guess when you say "there aren't even sidewalks on Bishop Street" it's a bit different than saying there are a few disjointed sidewalks - which there are. That's probably what the other person was referring to, and obviously they need to be extended and improved to support the new apartments. No one would want to walk on that stretch of street the way it looks now.

Yeah, we're all on the same page here. That area used to be mostly industrial and is heavily shaped by active freight rail. But more and more apartments are being built around here and further west, and the sidewalk/road/transit infrastructure is pitiful.

Who says you can't make make stucco attractive! No excuse for those shitty O4W mid-rise complexes.

This is good news. This is precisely the type of infill construction that we need throughout Buckhead and Midtown as well. 8-10 story /hotel complexes with some retail built in . This is the kind of development that leads to street life and a walkable continuity. Ultimately the Buckhead complex at Paces Ferry needs to connect continuously to the Buckhead north of Piedmont; just as ultimately Downtown needs to seamlessly connect to Midtown. It may seem to be in the distant future, but look how far these developments have expanded in the past 20 years.

I was thinking of the stretch on the 17th end, not into the residential area... he's right that the east end doesn't have any. Rest assured they'll come with any new apartments though, because (while it's kind of far) walkability to Atlantic Station will be a big selling point.

Imagine if they did this to the parking around lenox square that would be truly transformative.

Great project for Buckhead. It's about 3/4 mile between Buckhead Village and the commercial district; anything that works to close that gap will really help the area feel more cohesive, urban, and complete.

Most residents will probably use that bizarre secret alleyway behind target to get through!

Eviva

I'm guessing by the (lack of) fanfare, Eviva did not start construction in August as we hoped. Anyone have any news?

A developer is seeking a variance for development at 934, 944, and 976 Brady Street. This is probably the "Stockyards" project.

The project behind Mary Mac's (684 Penn Avenue) is also seeking a change from the existing residential zoning to commercial zoning.

I haven't heard anything about a project here. Do you have a link to details? Nothing shows up on the Devmap site either. It would be great to have something there to replace the surface lot.
