Lots diagonal from Peachtree/Pine shelter

Anyone know what's going on at the parking lots diagonal from the Peachtree/Pine shelter? The block is fenced off and there is heavy equipment moving dirt there.

Hopefully Emory isn't building another concrete nuclear-blast structure.

Renderings for new O4W project.

Developers broke ground this week on a mixed-use project that will introduce another 245 luxury units to the apartment magnet Historic Fourth Ward Park has become. North American Properties is calling their latest multifamily venture "Anthem on Ashley," a reference to an adjacent street, and they hope to debut the six-story building by early 2017. Plans also call for 6,000 square feet of retail space, which will bring a coffee shop and restaurant to the cusp of the park, adding to a growing slate of food options on Ralph McGill Boulevard, officials said.

I was wondering about this too: they're digging up a ton of dirt.

Also, I saw a few columns coming out of the ground at Modera, so that should be interesting.

Does anyone know what's being built across from the masjid on 14th?

Very well done! Thanks so much.

It's all very exciting and impressive too considering it's all within less than a square mile area.

If you consider the cutoff at 4th street, it's more like a half a square mile. It's incredible how many units are built within a small area. Such a large injection of residents in the area in the next few years.

The SPRINT store that closed at ViewPoint is relocating to the corner retail space at 805 Peachtree (half of the former Bobby Berk Home space - the other half is now occupied by Son&Sons Ad Agency). Contractors have been doing internal demo and renovations for the past few weeks.

Atlanta is finally joining the trend toward micro apartments, at least over near Emory-CDC

Maybe the Modera renderings were actually correct and they accidentally broke ground in the wrong city?

The 14th development is apartments.

They're just bringing the parking lot up to code with wider sidewalks and tree planting.

Nice!

Does anyone know what that small green structure is on the east side of the parking deck?

Looks like a mockup of the wall material. They use those to show how things go together.

A quick update from Loring Heights / Atlantic Station area:

Heights at West Midtown:

The infrastructure in the area is horrible. There aren't even sidewalks on Bishop Street. This part of town needs some serious upgrades before they keep building more apartments.

And this is where the Georgia Tech golf course used to be, between 14th and 16th just west of the new Steelworks apartments. Anybody know what's going in here? I can't recall any announcement. In the background is 455 14th street.

I believe this is actually just GT upgrading their practice facility. They had some fundraising a while back to upgrade the facility after selling a portion of the land for steelworks.

Umm, which Bishop are you talking about? There's a sidewalk where that project is and it will get some upgrades if the renderings are accurate. It's a bit out of the way though... not much to walk to without taking quite a hike.

There are renderings for Heights at West Midtown? Where? Of all the projects going on right now, this is one of the very few that I've never seen renderings for.

And you can see right there in the picture he took that there isn't a sidewalk (yet). Bishop has sidewalks in some spots, but it's not contiguous which is a little understandable since this used to be industrial. With the multiple developments on this street and in the immediate surrounding area, I think it will become more and more necessary to have them.

I'm sure they'll build a sidewalk immediately in front of the new apartments, but the rest of the street doesn't have sidewalks. I walked there from Peachtree Street (the Amtrak station, only a mile away) and it's pretty much a pedestrian disaster. There are a few disjointed sidewalks. The little blip of nice sidewalk you can see in my second picture was built for the gun range. But this is the streetview just a few hundred feet down from the new apartments.
