^^^True. Besides, the standard is changing now. Toronto, Ottawa and Winnipeg upgraded their boards, Edmonton and Quebec City having brand new boards to go with their new arenas and Vancouver and Montreal already having stellar boards...Calgary is getting left behind. Though I would expect that the Flames will concentrate on getting a new arena before worrying about the board.

Come again? Oilers arena looks just fine so far... and even so, only the steel frame has gone up really. Impossible to make that statement with where construction currently stands.

It's exactly the same as the rendering, it's just a transfer from animation to real life. Other than the wind screen in the SE corner no longer being included, the stadium is exactly as the render suggests. One other thing different is that the south video board will be much bigger than the one rendered. Was told it's almost twice as big as the current one in the NE corner of Taylor Field.

I had a feeling I was right and if the Exterior sets the standard of what this stadium will be than Regina will have the same stadium concept as Winnipeg. A great modern stadium that will do the job flawlessly BUT will feel Cheap.

You're being ripped apart because you are still wrong. All the materials being used are exactly what they said they were going to use. It's nobody else fault other than your own that can distinguish the difference between animation & reality. In person, the siding already up at Mosaic looks even better than I thought it would.

A good article in the Vancouver Sun today, about Rogers Arena/GM Place's 20th birthday.

www.vancouversun.com/sports/Rogers+Arena+still+rockin+years+later/11325281/story.html

Interesting, given the never-ending debates here about facility financing, locations, and amenities.

This is part of my point, and I agree with you. The Oilers arena will be unreal and currently looks great, however it will not look "polished" like the renderings (digitally modified to add that extra flare). See below. Patting ones self on the back because you (not you bkd) said a stadium won't look as polished as the renderings and therefore cheap makes me chuckle.

I do like the diagonal jagged green stripe on the side of new Mosaic. Identifies with the team colours obviously, and secondly, it "pops" much more than a single shade would.

I don't believe what you see in the Edmonton construction shots is the cladding of the arena, but rather a base for insulation, etc. with the cladding on top of that.

I always wondered what that translucent material was supposed to composed off? Who knows? Maybe the industrial siding is the first compromise on materials that had to be made with the $285 million budget.
You need to compare the same parts of the stadium. Look closer, not all aspects of the siding are translucent, only specific portions. The only part of the stadium that has started the exterior siding is a portion that is not translucent.

Look closer, it's identical

This will be a 50-some-odd year stadium, and it needs to be made of durable construction material/siding 'n that, . . and it is [initially] an outdoor facility. (At present, . . unless they stick a lid on 'er.)

woah woah woah

You guys are putting words in my mouth I never said Mosiac looks cheap. I said the finish on IGF feels cheap. I was pointing out that if they cut corners on the renders like they did with IGF, mosiac may have the cheap industrial feel like IGF and I'm a bombers fan so I can say that. I just personally don't like the medal siding on the interior of IGF I think it looks terrible and If they use it on the interior like they did in Winnipeg Mosiac has the potential to have the same cheap feel. I'm entitled to that opinion even if %90 of you disagree with me.

Yeah... thanks for showing up but I think we cleared this up about 2 pages back

This is because where the translucent parts are is the ramps to go up and down.

I based my opinion of the differences between the render and the real thing on the picture I posted. And after HomerSPC posted a picture clearly showing the solid section I politely retracted my statement. It should have been left at that no need to carry on

People are taking issue because you tried to come on here and gloat that you thought you were right about the Regina stadium being less than what was sold to us last May when the design was released. Next time don't try to gloat because it makes you look even worse when you're still wrong.

Cheers!

No not cheers. again that was before I realized their was 2 different surfaces you ignorant little Jerk. And even if i stuck to my original point. The damn stadium isn't built yet so I could say that the interior will be made of nothing but sugar and as of right now I'm not necessarily wrong and your not necessarily right. Either Way live in the reality that I now realize the render is comparable to the real product and stop acting as if I didn't admit my mistake

That siding does look dated and cheap. Would prefer a smooth surface regardless of the material. Or much wider aluminum panels. Brighter colours perhaps? Yah they have to match the Rider Green, but it just looks drab. But that appears to be just a small section, and overall I'm sure it'll be in the top ten of all stadiums in Canada. Ok, top three for sure.
