Right now ironworkers are placing precast concrete panels over the tracks. The encapsulation is nearing completion.

This is a project that is going to sneak up on us and will be awesome to watch progress on once this encapsulation is done!

Apologies if that has been answered, but does this mean the library itself won't have a traditional below-grade foundation? Or will they still go underground, but around the LRT line?

A tunnel has been born. Wow they must have had this prepared well, as the whole top of the enclosure was completed within two days.

My understanding of it is there will be a limited mechanical basement, but nothing public. Pretty similar to how most of the recent institutional projects around the city (especially at UofC such as ICT, EEEL, TFDL, SSE) have been done.

So not much excavation is to be expected then? That's good, this project will rise quicker than way

Great picture. This one, especially with the workers standing on the tunnel really gives perspective to the site. In my head I have always thought that it was much smaller. It's a pretty decent size!

Some hard working craftsmen and women put in long hours on a tight schedule to make this happen. They did an incredible job.
