They could, but didn't in this case. Their community benefits package included public realm improvements, 98 secure rentals (at market rates), some greenways and a contribution to fit out the SEFC theatre space.

They have launched a special site for the nine 2-floor + rooftop patio penthouse units. Two have been sold so far. Some ridiculous customization options are available.

Seems that we both made a pilgrimage to this site yesterday. My version.

Yeah let's get this one going up and Burrard Place as well, nothing much happening right now except Telus. Boring, have to go out to Brentwood to see some good action.

I still can't believe they allowed the vacant gas station to remain behind. Pretty mind blown about that.

No one will be interested in that lot, and it creates a orphaned property in a precarious location.

Lame!

Not to takeaway from the building, definitely looking forward to that.

Look at the size of the steel supports in the corner of the excavation.. Good stuff, you wouldn't want that vacant ugly useless building next door falling into the pit.

Yeah I have been wondering about that service station for awhile now, it was in use until this project got underway, not sure exactly when it closed. Is it for lease or any signage on the fence?

The station looks like it was built at least 50-60 years ago so it may be a contaminated brownfield and the developers of Vancouver House maybe didnt wanna take it on or will at a later date. Aside from that, the building looks like it would make a cool microbrewery or restaurant with large covered patio where the cars drove under the roof.
