So far I really like the first tower. I don't like the east and south sides of the podium, I kind of really dislike them so far... but one is meant to be a back lane after all. Hopefully one day Metropolis is redeveloped out to Kingsway and the lane will be reoriented, etc.

Artistic Installations at Station Square - June 9, 2015

Construction on Station Square - July 13, 2015

I was told that Save On / PriceSmart (they keep flip flopping on which it will be), Rexall and the TD bank would be under the first tower. The Save On that was there was way too big and they were going to go with a smaller, more reasonable sized store.

Also, how does the back lane interact with Metrotown? In the end are we going to have to lanes divided by a concrete wall?

I know - the Holiday Inn doesn't match with anything. You'd think they'd reclad it or something so the whole thing flows. They reclad the glittery art wall next to it.

The renders conveniently don't show what exactly's going to happen to the lane(s). The site maps lists it as Station Street. I wandered through there today and while you can't see it, there are some chunks out of the top of the wall between the two lanes - so if it's staying they're going to have to do some work on it.

Bed Bath & Beyond is going where the Future Shop used to be - the sign is installed.

If you go back to pg 8 of this thread there's a site map with the original numbers listed. How accurate those numbers are now though... (they shortened the second tower).

Pretty sure we will see Holiday Inn demolished few years after Station Square has gone up. It will just make financial sense to replace it with a tower.

Unless plans have changed I believe the tallest tower is u/c at the moment. I visited the presentation centre last spring.

WRT the Holiday Inn, I think the "problem" is that the colour of the brick is a bit dated - but still perfectly fine.

It's the same scenario as with EATON'S / Pacific Centre or any other renovation downtown.

Stick with the original design (orange brick and warm hues, even if mish mashed in form and massing)
or "modernize" to cool grays that don't match anything in the original design?

i.e. look at the condo tower and the Holiday Inn - they match in colour - and are consistent within the complex.

it is my understanding that they lowered the height of the second and third towers by 8 or 9 floors a piece

I agree. I can't stand when renovations don't match at all with the original. I don't have a problem with the original brick etc it's the glass/spandrel that looks ridiculous on it
