Laval as a city is a mess, but if you look at each neighborhood separately, they are really not that bad (especially Ste-Rose, St-Vincent, St-François and LDR in my opinion).
Even if you look at Chomedey as a suburban city of 100k people with its downtown being "downtown Laval" west of A15 (no Résidences Soleil), it's not so bad. Very car-oriented, but pretty decent for its size.
Fortunately it can only get better... Right?
