I am still laughing at your metaphore, as it indeed does look a lot like Playstation 3! Having a PS4 inspired building in Vancouver could be pretty cool, eh?

I didn't come up with it, but heard it mentioned around the time it was completed. It is eerily similar though, I have to wonder if there's an inside joke there somewhere.

And yes, a PS4 tower would look cool... maybe all black too.

High-resolution version at dusk. Taken from the roof of One Wall Centre.

Thanks guys! Actually Capitol Residence has lots of rental suites and therefor there are lots of lights in the windows at night. I would say this building has much higher occupancy than an average building in Downtown.

Here is another hi-res photo from the rooftop of The Spot building nearby. Looking rather good in here.

This is an angle you see seldomly as many don't notice it, but I have to say that it is one of the more pleasing angles to me. Great and tall street presence.

Nice pic, I would agree that the building does look good from this angle. Nothing special but nothing really wrong either.

Yeah, it's still a spandrel monster. Extra points for anyone knowing what is casting that strange shadow on the building?

Seems that their plants on that patio have gone bad, just like the tree in West End. I wonder how that patio/platform looks like. Officedweller, any chance of taking us a photo? I think I have never seen how its used.

Could it be the crane from Telus Garden? given the time of the morning/early afternoon it could be between capitol and the sun.

Ah, that was easy for someone who obviously knows how things orient in Downtown.

I didn't even notice the shadow before I looked again at my posted photo. One wouldn't think that such a small piece of equipment could cast such a strong shadow so far away.

Here's a pic I took a few weeks ago through the tinted glass from about mid-way up the Westin Grand Hotel. Capital Residences is just one of numerous "two-faced" buildings in downtown Vancouver. Atelier (kitty corner from the library at Homer and Robson) is all curves on one side and all blocky on the other. We could do a whole thread of these types of buildings. Locals would probably know them from either side but others might have no idea they are the same building when just looking at the pictures.

Buildings with substantially different looking sides of the tower portions:

-Telus Garden condo
-Atelier
-Capital Residences
-999 Seymour
-745 Thurlow
-Westin Grand Hotel
-Jamieson House
-The Lauren (1401 Comox)
-One Pacific?

July '15, my pic
