In addition, it will restore Darke Hall to its former glory as one of Canada’s most beautiful and historic performance venues.

The University will be hosting an open dialogue on the future of College Avenue Campus. “Planning for a Community” will be held on September 16, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Darke Hall on the College Avenue Campus.

According to the University of Regina website they've collected $5 Million dollars towards the College Ave project and need $5 Million more to break ground.

I read that as the first of the 5 stores in Sask will be in Regina, not that we are getting 5 in Regina.

It says: " . . the company is hoping to have five or six Save-On-Foods stores in Regina, . . "

That is incredible though - especially when there are only three Sobey's locations in the Queen City.

Plus how many Safeways 6? 7?

Edit: I guess there are only 5 left. Still that is 8 Sobeys locations. 5-6 does not seem unreasonable.

Ah, your post meant longer term and I was thinking more immediate. Fair enough.

Safeway in Victoria Square is not being well managed through the transition of ownership and changeover to Sobey brands. Increasingly, there seems to be problems with lack of stock, expired products on the shelves and poorer quality substitutions with brand changeover where the new product isn't good.

The crane is in to start putting the roof on covered parts of the new stadium.

There's quite a few products I've found where the "Compliments" brand isn't nearly as good as the "Safeway Select" product it replaced. It forces you to buy the brand name products (and spend more than you used to) to maintain the same quality you used to get at Safeway.

I think the Save-On Foods is going to be a fantastic hit here. Sobeys/Safeway is essentially the same thing now, Co-op is too expensive, Superstore is an unorganized gong show and Costco makes you want to rip your hair out. Finally a new option!

I'm excited for the new Save-On-Foods in Regina. It was my favourite grocer when I lived in Edmonton and Sobey's is a joke imho.

I was at the press conference. There was no mention of 5 or 6 stores in Regina. There are many misquotes in the CJME article. The Leader-post was more accurate.

I doubt they just made it up. It was probably said in the post-presser scrum. Also they did say 20 stores in SK, so 5-6 in Regina is about a right.

Boy, crews sure did a number to the old rail yards downtown; it now appears as a giant, flat piece of slate! Great view of the CBD as well!
