Driving around last week I noticed one day that a back hoe was on the old Moench printing property taking down some foliage. I then noticed yesterday that there is now a fence surrounding the entire property.

Moench printing was located at 255 W 800 S. SW Corner of 800 S and Washington St.

Also, Jackie Biscupski came and did a presentation at my office today and I'm not impressed. She had nothing good to say about the S-Line and was generally dissed SLC up and down about how much SLC 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 because a supposed lack of leadership. She bellyached about taxes, touted her record of voting with the GOP 90% of the time and threw other Dems under the bus and bitched about Becker traveling ... Did not like.

Becker pissed me off by deep sixing Chief Burbank which was a bad move politically but even as disappointed as I ws with that is enough to punch the card for Jackie. IMO it would be a sad day bordering on disastrous if Jackie wins. SLC is seeing a extreme uptick in development which may or may not be a result of Becker (likely not) but I'm not seeing the systemic dysfunction in the city that Jackie is claiming. As negative and pessimistic as I am about Utah I'm pretty bullish on SLC. What I saw today didn't endear me to Biskupski.

I noticed that the small parking lot on the corner of 3rd South and Edison street (next to Copper Common) has been torn up and fenced off... Did I miss a development? Anyone know what's going on there? Did the La Porte group dig in the wrong place?

She's not the only one who opposes the S-Line. In fact, I'd wager many, many people in the area oppose it (from the vibe I'm getting living in SugarHouse).

I'm not particularly fond of Jackie, but I'm done with Ralph. We'll see what happens, tho.

I met Jackie on Monday night at a meeting. She talked for about 40 minutes kind of rambling about how we need to become one city. She seemed a bit misinformed on a few subjects, and when asked how she is different than Luke Garrott, she said she is "very different" and brought up how she can work with republicans and he cannot. I was expecting more. It felt like she thought she could wave a magic wand after coming into office, and all of a sudden everyone would get along, and she would be able to get the ebay's and adobe's of the world to move downtown from Lehi/Draper. I think the top two candidates are Becker and Garrott.

Garrott isn't going to be a viable candidate. He's too bombastic and his hate of Becker really seems outrageous. He's got a very toxic tone to him whenever he talks. You mention Jackie is negative, but every time Garrott speaks he says nothing positive at all. I remember a few weeks ago reading a questionnaire in the City Weekly from all candidates and every single answer Garrott gave attacked Becker. I get he's in the incumbent, but your vision has to be more than just attacking the current guy.

Jackie didn't do that. She got her digs in, to be sure, but she actually expanded on her ideas - at that point that's where I decided to support her. My guess is the general will be between Jackie and Becker - with Garrott a distant third.

On the corner of 800 S. and Washington was a planned multi-family residential development. I don't know a lot about it. It was 52 units on 4 levels with underground parking. I thought the project was dead. I can do some research.

The parking lot at the corner of Edison Street and 300 South will unfortunately most likely become an improved parking lot. It's owned by the state of Utah, they have not applied for any permits as it is not required. Because of that there is a general lack of information in the city system. I'm assuming if it was an actual structure we would have heard more about it.

My feelings about Jackie is that all I hear from her are negative attacks about the current administration. I have yet to hear how she is truly a different, better candidate and what her plans are for building a better city. Give me some concrete ideas. I'm not a big fan of Luke Garrott but at least his website lists specifically what he would do as Mayor. I'm a bit biased, I suppose, as an employee of the current administration but I have been happy with what Ralph Becker has accomplished and I think 4 more years would ensure the city continues down a positive path.

I was happy with Becker, too. I voted for him three times - in his original primary and two elections. He's just really dropped the ball the last two years. Right now, as much as Garrott sounds like a complete blowhard, I'd vote for him over Becker just to get some change in there.

They revised the plans and have a drastic reduction in density, going from 45 units or so to the low 20's. Urban rowhouse rental product. The renderings look good. Glad somebody finally figured out that just because you want to rent doesn't mean you want to be stacked on top of people. They should show up on the SLC permit system soon if they haven't already.

And why, exactly, are those many citizens of Sugar House opposed to it? Sincerely hope it's not the same garbage we heard when there was talk of extending the streetcar up 11th East.

They fear construction will kill business - plus, it's not like the S-Line has been all that successful. I'm for it - but the ridership isn't helping make a point. I'm hopeful expanding it further into Sugar House will help bolster ridership, tho.

Garrott's role in the community should be getting people jazzed up about paticipating in their neighborhood councils. Can we just agree to make a job for him to do that so he can leave the council?

We could have built it right (with two lanes and where it's going to end below Westminster), but we chose to build half of it so we could get half of it paid for by federal grants. And now we're gonna find a way so the federal grants will pay for half of it again so we can finish it. Everyone in Sugarhouse just needs to calm their 🞵🞵🞵🞵 and realize that UTA and SLC are just playing the long game so we have more dollars to spend later.

Easy enough for you to say 'calm your 🞵🞵🞵🞵' when you've got zero skin in the game. Most businesses on 11th East oppose the idea. I think they're wrong, but I'm not going to just dismiss their fears because they should 'calm their 🞵🞵🞵🞵'.

The gay voting block is large enough in SLC that they can sway elections, so I hope y'all are informing people why she's a bad choice. I know I am (and I'm gay). It drives me nuts that a lot of my gay friends are supporting her just because she's gay.

They are sadly just resurfacing the parking lot that is there.
