My shots from today are just 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵,,,, spent most of the day at Goldbar WWTP.

I believe the crane base is for the Parkade and part of the Podium for Stantec. The tower will still have 2 crane. The Con Docs are not complete as far as I have been informed.

The lens itself is about 6 pounds I think, so about 8 or so with the 6D+grip attached. I shlepped it to work yesterday by bike in my backpack along with my lunch (~2 pounds including glass containers) and my work laptop (~6.3 pounds). My ride uphill was a bit slower that day.

Optical quality leaves a bit to be desired, but for a $1200 lens, it's not bad. Hard to complain, too, a buddy is loaning it to me for a month basically for free.

^^ Only if you crank up the ISO; its maximum aperture at 500mm is f/6.3 (and there's a lot of vignetting at that length); go wider and it's still only f/4.5.

I'm using it for wildlife shooting, myself, but the 6D has pretty low noise at higher ISOs.

Haha, i'm with you. not to hijack but in process of upgrading from T1i - i'm a Canon guy... struggling between 6D and 7D... I'm an engaged amateur... how do you like the 6D? maybe PM me... would appreciate your advice. Prolly best to PM. thanks!

I kind of feel complete indifference to chateau lacombe... I was defending it before saying it might not be as bad as everyone thinks...but seeing it done, I really just have no feelings towards it. It's so... Boring and nondescript. I guess it's better than before. Hmm, maybe it'll be different in person. It'd be interesting to see a skyline shot with the new skin.

If anything, The Chateau Lacombe is playful in design, and that isn't a bad thing necessarily.

^ The materials and even the colours themselves look good. It's just the pattern that is goofy. At least the quality of the former helps negate the latter.

The InHouse Open House: The Proposed New Vision for Glenora Site

Our first Open House will be hosted on Thursday, June 25, 2015 – details are listed below.

InHouse has been working with GEC Architecture and Stantec Consulting Ltd. to come up with a re-envisioned design for their Glenora site. In proposing design revisions, a rezoning of the site is required, which means that a formal application will be submitted to the City of Edmonton. As a part of the rezoning process, InHouse will be engaging the community to share ideas.

The proposed application for rezoning will be a Direct Control application, which means a specific set of regulations for this site only will be developed to govern how the layout and space will be configured, as well as set the parameters for the future development of the site on a phased basis. The site will continue to be planned for a comprehensive, mixed-use development with residential towers, office, retail uses and amenity space, all integrated with the future LRT line.

InHouse is committed to making some functional improvements to the layout and configuration of the site, as well as introducing a different aesthetic look of the proposed buildings. Attend our open house for more information:

Somehow I doubt this is the only reason this development is held up...

Potential coal mines stops Edmonton condo development cold

For more than a year, a development at Jasper Avenue and 95 Street has been little more than a giant hole in the ground, despite being the future home of a 28-storey Corners condo tower by BCM Development.

But the reason for the delay might be a bit surprising: it’s partly because the condo could be going up atop an old coal mine.

City officials said remediation of the condo development site was delayed at first due to contamination from a former gas station. But then, before a stamp of approval could be given, Mary Ann Debrinski, director of urban renewal with the city, said a geotechnical analysis at the end of May was used to determine whether there were coal mines under the site.

Results are expected before the end of summer.

Chateau Lacombe would look great with the new cladding if they didn't use those stupid colors. Sure it adds dynamic, but keeping things simple sometimes works better. Maybe one day they'll repaint to match the rest.
