Yea me too. I thought they'd fit in great with the 2 proposed towers by Hillwood.. But they've narrowed down to West Plan/Frisco. Not even considering Dallas anymore.

The Dallas Symphony Foundation is selling the high-profile corner of Woodall Rodgers Freeway and Pearl Street in the Dallas Arts District to developer Lincoln Property.

The property – which is next door to the Meyerson Symphony Center – for the last 20 years has been used for green space and sculpture.

Lincoln Property plans to build a 23-story office tower on the site, which is across from Klyde Warren Park and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Whole Foods to open Uptown store in August

The first residents will move in in August and floors will be leased throughout the fall as the interiors are completed, Slade said.

It’s been a long haul with neighborhood meetings and with committees who oversee historical issues, she said. “We had to make it fit and make sure lot lines matched the rest of State Thomas.”

Gables Residential would do it all again for the right property, Slade said. “We’d love to find another location, but one like this is going to be hard to replicate.”

Anyway … now that the lot has been scraped, what’s it going to be? According to the City of Dallas, who gave approval, it’s to be a 55-unit residential structure not to exceed 165’ of habitable space (there’s another 10’ in allowable overages for mechanicals on the roof). My guess is what we have is a 15-story building with roughly four units per floor with two half-floor penthouses. Unlike the Poston property near the Renaissance that we’ll cover next week, no one objected to their zoning modifications to reduce setbacks. Reading the Planning Commission notes, it seems there will be a lot of glass (no surprise) with the ground level having 60% transparency.

As you can see from the map, there will be some impact to Limited Edition views, but with the high-rise Heritage Auctions building next to GG Dallas Pearl, that view was mostly toast already and might actually block a little of the multi-story parking lot view at the back. Some apartments in Rienzi may also be slightly impacted. We’ll just have to wait for the champagne reception and see.

New Virgin Hotel planned in Dallas’ Design District

The hotel chain backed by Virgin Group plans to open a more than 200-room hotel on Hi Line Drive at Turtle Creek Boulevard in 2018.

Dunhill Partners – which last fall bought 33 acres and about 700,000 square feet of buildings in the Design District – will develop the new hotel with Vinculum Partners and the Crosland Group.

“I could not have found a more perfect hotel for the Design District and everything it offers the City of Dallas than Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Hotels,” Dunhill Partners CEO Bill Hutchinson said. “It will be the heartbeat of the hottest entertainment district and the biggest jewel in our crown.”

The big reveal of Toyota North America's new campus is slated for Wednesday morning in an event for Toyota employees and media, which will showcase renderings and designs by Dallas-based Corgan. Plans include a demo track to test vehicles and 7,000 parking spaces.

"We'll be able to unveil — for the first time to the general public — our architectural renderings and it will also be the launch of a very exciting multi-continental expedition called the Ever-Better Expedition, which is really meant to allow Toyota to get closer to the customer by understanding the needs and how customers are using Toyota vehicles all across the globe," Moreno told me.

Toyota unveils what its 100-acre Plano campus will look like

Seven mostly glass buildings – some up to five stories tall – will dominate Toyota’s new $300-plus million North American headquarters in west Plano.

The automaker unveiled architectural renderings of the 2-million-square-foot facilities Wednesday that showed buildings of varying heights in glass and Texas limestone arranged around a large central plaza.

The 100-acre campus is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2017

Assuming you're referring to the overhanging connection in-between the two buildings, one could say that Exxon Mobil too a look at the former EDS campus in Plano.

Back in the late '80s and early '90s EDS built the 25 acre campus, now occupied by HP's HQ, with over 2.3M square feet of floor space including four Tier-IV data centers, a command center, a fitness center, a service station, four building clusters, four helipads and a hanger.

I remember when the EDS campus was built. It was like some huge monument way out on the prairie. Seemed so far away, yet it was huge on the horizon. Almost surreal. The houses in Plano hadn't even reached Preston Rd yet in their westward march.

More lofts and apartments coming to Shops at Park Lane

Construction of another 165 apartments has started on the Park Lane side of the mixed-use development, across the street from the DART train stop and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Then a large building that’s been vacant and was originally built to be a sports club is being turned into 75 lofts. That building sits on top of a seven-level parking garage. The lofts will be on levels 8-10.

J. Crew Factory store, the first in the city of Dallas, opens in late July and a new concept from fast-fashion retailer Forever 21 called F21 red will open in September. Both have full-price stores across the freeway in NorthPark Center.

F21 red will be on two levels and take up 19,600 square feet of space next to Old Navy.

The next phase of the booming Cypress Waters project on LBJ Freeway will include a new town center with restaurants, apartments and offices.

The project will include mid-rise apartment buildings, restaurants and shops fronting on the water and was designed by Dallas architects Good Fulton & Farrell.

“We’ve already been talking to restaurants,” said developer Lucy Billingsley. “We’ll have the restaurants on the water with a trail going in and out between them.”

Six to 7-story apartment blocks will also overlook a small cove that is crossed by a signature bridge.

The cove and bridge have just been built.

Billingsley said construction will start in the next couple of months on the streets in the new town center.

Work on the buildings will begin in early 2016.

Gaedeke Group readies to break ground on Legacy West office tower

Shortly after unveiling the design of its new Legacy West office tower, Dallas-based Gaedeke Group plans to break ground on the 14-story, 327,856-square-foot building, which is the first of a two-building office complex.

The complex will sit next to the headquarters of FedEx Office and Toyota North America upon completion of the two campuses. Liberty Mutual Insurance also will have a large regional hub near the new building.

The speculative ultra-luxury office tower, called One Legacy West, is slated to begin construction on Tuesday, July 7 on the 11-acre site within the $2 billion Legacy West development, which is being built as part of a larger live-work-play project.
